A MOTHER has pointed a gun to her unsuspecting son's head at a shooting range and pulled the trigger, killing him in front of shocked bystanders.

Marie Moore, 44, then turned the gun on herself.

In a series of notes and recordings she left behind, she said repeatedly: "I had to send my son to heaven and myself to Hell."

The Miami Herald reports that Moore had taken her 20-year-old son Mitchell to the Shoot Straight range in Casselberry, Florida, for what he thought was an afternoon's firing practice.

She chatted with other patrons at the firing range, but onlookers say she became increasingly agitated and nervous as her son began target practice.

A security camera was rolling as she shot her son then took her own life.

The images have shocked Americans already reeling after a brutal spate of gunman rampages and family killings in the past two weeks.

Neither Moore’s friends, families or authorities say they had any warning that the woman was planning to kill her son or herself.

"We have no clue. I don't even want to begin to speculate," Deputy Chief Bill McNeil of the Casselberry Police Department told The Associated Press.

However, she had a history of mental illness, according to The Daily Mail.

Her ex-husband, Mitchell’s father, told reporters that she had been banned from the shooting range several years ago for trying to commit suicide there, a report the shooting range denies.

In her notes, mostly addressed to her boyfriend "King", Moore insisted that God and the Devil and turned her into the Anti-Christ, and that when she died "a thousand years peace" would reign on Earth.

She signed herself off as "Failed Queen".

"I'm sorry to leave you like this," she said on one of the tapes. "It's a horrifying thing to do."

I feel for the Family and everyone that was at the range when it happened ( especially the bloke next to the boy)

Basically if you look at a general news round up site like the drudge report and see a story that involves blatant corruption, absurd levels of violence general weirdeness and the ever poular WTF category, a betting man would say, that was in Florida, and win more than he lost. I of course love it (though not today) but I am waiting for California to retake its proper place as the weirdness capital of America.
