Range report
The Citadel was very easy to shoot with the flat trigger breaking very crisply. I had wondered about how it would feel compared to the curved triggers of my other 1911's, but I really couldn't tell a difference after I started shooting.
I took several types of reloads (my main ammo source) and about two mags worth of Hornady XTP 230gr +P ammo that I use for self defense. The first 2 mags were 230gr lead round nose. The first mag had no problems, but about 5 rounds in to the 2nd mag, the pistol failed to lock into battery. I just pushed the slide closed with my thumb and kept firing
The second group of bullets were reloads using Berry's plated 200gr flat point conical bullets. I had 3 or 4 failures to go into battery with these bullets. Each time, all I had to do to fix the failure was to close the action with a push of my thumb.
The factory ammo was perfect, no failures of any kind.
The two 8 rd mags that came with the pistol are marked "ACT-MAG" and are made in Italy. They are identical to the MECGAR mags that I bought for a 1911 that I gave to my oldest son Last year. The operation was good except for the previously mentioned failures, but I think those were ammo related. I did notice that GI magazines that I took would not lock the slide open on the last shot. The Wilson and CMC mags that I took along also worked perfectly.
Ejection was positive and consistant with all the cases landing between 10 and 15 ft to the right and slightly behind me. I was able to recover all the brass from the ammo I took with me.
POI was about 4 inches below POA. I don't know if this is due to a needed break in period or the front site needs adjustment. I'll just have to shoot it more to make that determination. The pistol grouped very well for two handed shooting at 10 yards.
All in all I think I got my money's worth.
