I got a idea... we build this wall, completly close off the boarder, make it a capitol crime to cross it.   no more guns coming from the US.

Sarukhan has claimed that Mexico seizes 2,000 guns a day from the United States, or 730,000 a year. But the official statistic from the Mexico attorney general's office says Mexico seized 29,000 weapons in all of 2007 and 2008.

I think that pretty much says it all..

Quote
For example, Sarukhan cited the Mexican border town of Reynosa where he said more than 250 assault weapons and half a million rounds of ammo were seized in November.
lets just asume for a second that the ammo is 22 lr.  at ~ 6lbs /500 thats 3 tons of ammo... Thats not something that was just picked up at the local supporting goods store, nor was it something that was ordered all at one time.( I mean lets face it 500k round order is not going to get un noticed.)  No I forget what a 223 should wieght, but lets just say its 150 grains( with packaging).  thats 11k lbs of just ammo.  All of this is assuming it was not froim thier miltary..

WOW   fox had correct facts in there

But in fact, only 17 percent of guns found at Mexican crime scenes have been traced to the U.S.

Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them. The only thing you can’t do is ignore them

Be honest with you, Fox New Channel is all I watch. How many of those weapons used by the mercenaries of the ex-Mexican special forces have been sold or stolen from the Mexican military and federal police? That is the statistic I would like to see.

I think this article puts everything in correct order.

http://www.nowpublic.com/world/origins-weapons-mexico-not-reported

Close to 6,000 were successfully traced -- and of those, 90 percent -- 5,114 to be exact, according to testimony in Congress by William Hoover -- were found to have come from the U.S.
So why would the Mexican drug cartels, which last year grossed between $17 billion and $38 billion, bother buying single-shot rifles, and force thousands of unknown "straw" buyers in the U.S. through a government background check, when they can buy boatloads of fully automatic M-16s and assault rifles from China, Israel or South Africa?

Since they don't speak english there was something lost in the translation. The actual statistic is: "90% of all illegal aliens cross into the US from Mexico". That's the problem.

What I want to know is this: Of all the weapons they traced to the U.S. How many were Weapons given by the U.S. to Columbia, and then shipped up to Mexico. I mean I find it hard to believe that these Narco Gurrilas wouldn't have some sort of connection with some of the cocaine cartels in Columbia or even F.A.R.C.? So sure they are U.S. made weapons, but they were given as aid to Columbia and then stolen from the Columbian government (I know they have such an honest government) and simply shipped north with the drugs. Or is that an embaressing question to ask the current administration? ???

You know whats sad, I watch the hong kong news on cable( its in english) I have found that thier reporting is more truthful, unbaised and correct then any US or EURO news.  Not to mention thier coverage of the world wide econ is much more indepth, and spin free.
