Tapco magazines

Has anyone used the new Tapco polymer magazines.  I am seeing that they seem to be the only decent looking polymer mags available at Midway or Brownells. The price seems decent, but I wanted to ask if anyone has had any experience with these before I buy.  I have a couple Magpul P-mags and love them, I am wondering if these are similar in durability an functionality.

Depends what gun their going in I'd guess.  A friend has their SKS magazines and they seem to work really well.  He has an occasional jam, but its tough to say there are any more or less than when he's got the factory magazine in place.  I've seen him drop them on cement and it didnt crack or break.

Any info on the AR mags that they now have available?

The only thing I've heard is about springs. They used to be high quality but after they were bought out some people had issues with tension as allegedly they were using cheaper wire. I'm told a person can generally tell by pressing the follower to see if spring tension is weak. I'm picking one up the end of the week as it is coming with a rifle. We'll see.

I've used them in my AK-47 platform rifles with good results. Enough to recommend them. Cost is average and performance has been excellent in both my Lancaster Arms, and all of my Century GP-1975 Romanian rifles. Maybe I'm being picky but I like using a polymer magazine in AK and AR rifles because the combination of polymer and steel, or polymer and Aluminum is more "forgiving" than a metal magazine is.  Bill T.

Got one of the tapco ar mags a short time ago, and I have found it to be fairly smooth.  I still like the Magpull Pmags better, but so far, the Tapco mags are in second place as far as polimer mags are concerned.  They seem to me to be very similar to the Pmags, but without all the nice details like the integral mag cover and seperate channels for the right and left stack. 

So far, the one I have feels sturdy and performs well.  Since they are about the same price as the Pmags, I will probably not get another one because I still prefer the Pmags.  If they were less expensive than the Pmags, I might reconsider, but then again, I would probably just stick to Braunells mags for my non-Pmag selection. 

On a similar subject, I also picked up one of the lancer plastic mags.  I have not yet tested it out, but at this point I am not impressed.  It is cool to be able to see the rounds through the side of the magazine, but not that big of a deal.  The magazine feels much less sturdy when compared to the Pmags or the Tapco ar mags.  I plann on posting a short report when I get a chance to test this magazine out, but don't know when that will be.
