MEXICO CITY | Meeting face-to-face with Mexican President Felipe Calderon, President Obama on Thursday said the U.S. is to blame for much of Mexico's drug violence, and he set up a major congressional gun-control battle by calling on the Senate to ratify a treaty designed to track and cut the flow of guns to other countries.

Mr. Obama said he wants to renew a ban on some semiautomatic weapons but that it is not likely to pass Congress. Instead, he called for the Senate to ratify a decade-old hemispherewide treaty that would require nations to mark all weapons produced in the country and track them to make sure no weapons were exported to countries where they were banned.

"I will not pretend that this is Mexico's responsibility alone. The demand for these drugs in the United States is what's helping keep these cartels in business," Mr. Obama said at a joint news conference with Mr. Calderon. "This war is being waged with guns purchased not here, but in the United States. More than 90 percent of the guns recovered in Mexico come from the United States, many from gun shops that line our shared border."

This part is true. Do you realize that if we took 10% of the money that has been pissed away on the 70+ year total failure called the "War on Drugs" we could effectively seal the border and actually have a POSITIVE effect on both of these problems as well as preventing illegal aliens from draining our economy.

Mark my words, the gun-grabbers are going to use the "fact" that 90% of the guns can be traced back to the US as the reason they "had no choice" but to enact new, sweeping gun control measures.

Right now their foot soldiers are marching to the tune of "there will be no move toward gun control, we have much bigger fish to fry", yet this morning on ABC Radio news they had a soundbyte of the Poser-In-Chief saying that he would not back off reinstituting the (so-called) Assault Weapons Ban.  (Apparently the newspeople caught him without his teleprompter).

I'm becoming frustrated because it seems that everytime I turn around I find myself being poo-pooed by people who only hear the left party-line about not moving on gun control, who tell me that I'm either over-reacting, or that I'm actually doing a disservice to the pro-gun cause by making "ridiculous, unfounded accusations".  I feel like I'm shouting against a storm.  It gets terribly discouraging, but I cannot, nor shall I stop.......there's way too much at stake!

Because the majority of the world believes it is true!  Why cloud our thinking with facts?  Our enemies, foreign and domestic, have a member in the Whitehouse, and these falsehoods further their agenda.

The only way this battle will be won is for us to disprove every falsehood they put out, and to put facts out first that they can not disprove.  They'll still try to dismiss it, but it is the only way ... short of what the Second Amendment was written for!
