Have we Already Forgotten?

I thought these buildings were going to be a reflection of our National Pride and determination. Can anyone say malaise?

 :o Perhaps we should just rebuild the towers as they where originally done . I remember when I was in the 3rd grade they had started construction and they where finished by the time I finished middle school. I just goes to prove that our current generation is not capable of accomplishing great things in a short amount of time like previous generations. What a disgrace.

An example of liberals in control.  Lots of emotion and grandiose statements, then when the thrill is gone nothing.  Liberals politicians don't have a good track record of building things that benefit people,...except maybe socialized health care (whoops my Brit friends and Canadian friends have called BS on that), a safe society (oh wait, crime, drug use, abortion, et.al. is up in this and other enlightened societies),....OK, I'll stop.

I've got a question, when communist's take over nations, what happens to the liberals that helped foment the takeover?  Tom you are our Resident Historian, got some history on that one?

We're heading into a severe depression/inflation, I am more interested in putting food on the table, than I am in putting up more government buildings.

NEW YORK —  The Freedom Tower is out. One World Trade Center is in.

The agency that owns ground zero confirmed Thursday that the signature skyscraper replacing the towers destroyed on Sept. 11 will be more commonly known as One World Trade Center.

The building under construction at the site was named the Freedom Tower in the first ground zero master plan. Officials at the time said the tallest, most symbolic of five planned towers at the site would demonstrate the country's triumph over terrorism.

Port Authority of New York and New Jersey chairman Anthony Coscia (KOH'-sha) says the agency refers to the building as One World Trade Center. He says it's the building's legal name and "the one that's easiest for people to identify with."

Remember that? Overbudget, took years longer than scheduled, had leaks and engineering flat out mistakes, corrupt kickbacks, union whining, cheap materials that had to be replaced for an additional chunk of bling.....

Sounds like Dems in charge of a project.

At least when FDR had the TVA building things back during the Depression, the gov't just subsidized it and got out of the freakin way to let the workers get the materials, labor and designs.

Way to go Mayor Bloomburg!

They either continue their studies in "reeducation camps" or they are "purged (shot). Communists ALWAYS kill the people who put them in power, (red terror) as do Nazi's ("night of the long knives" the purge of the SA) it is a common practice for ALL dictators to "eliminate" (kill) potential rivals.

On the topic of the OP I think this sums up our "modern" society quite accurately, LOTS of money spent emotional speeches made and bullsh!t spread around to impress the ignorant masses, but no actual change in the big vacant lot in NY. :(

Oh wait, we had a slap in the face with the last one,..

Where's the petition's to keep the Freedom Tower name? Where are the emails flooding this Port Authority guy?

The Port Authority did heroic things on 9/11, and lost many good men, however I figured with all they lost, as well as what we all lost that day as a country, THEY would be the ones to FIGHT to keep the original Name.

It's not just "another building" at One World Trade, it is a SYMBOL to the world that we are still here, we will not be intimidated, and if were up to me, there would be mini gun anti aircraft positions and some sidewinder surface to air missles toward the top.

The Empire State Building was completed in the Depression. That was called National Pride and Determination.
