What is the standard distance for .22 cal. target shooting

I BELIVE it is 50 yards (open sights).
All tipoes and misspelings are copi-righted.  Pleeze do not reuse without ritten persimmons  :D

hey I.D. i have a Henry golden boy with a good scope (22lr) i shoot all the time at a100 yds . people grin when i mount the target at a100yds. but they love that Henry when we go as a group to get the results..  get a good scope and have a lot of fun cheap!!!  xd40.

An (ahem) older man used to regularly plink orange clay targets on our shooting club 100 yard range from a rested position atop
a picnic table using an iron sight Ruger 10/22(?). ( I cannot really recall) It was a vintage gun of some sort.  He frequently hit the
clays two or three times before they broke, so we never knew his score from the firing line, we had to go  out and examine the
clays. Good shooter, good eyesight, never saw him shoot anything else, though he seemed to know alot about firearms.
