I often think with my 14 year old son, he got the best part of the deal; His mother's looks, and MY BRAINS!

Sounds like the right combo for you as well Haz,... hope he has his mother's TOES though. ::)
Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."

We were talking about the state of this country and what might happen.

That migrated into self defense. He stated that basically 'killin is killin'.  Murder or manslaughter but other than that  either you meant to kill or you didn't.  Sounded good to me .

then......

He said he did NOT understand the 2A people that would say "I will protect me and mine" but say they would 'evaluate' other situations.

I asked why he felt that way.

His answer....

"because this is MY country and all of it is 'me and mine' "

My chest got big and I thought "THIS IS A PATRIOT"! and I AM SO PROUD THAT HE IS MY SON!

Congratulations.
Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom.
It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.

Each time one of my sons came and told me that they had enlisted, I would have the same reaction. Then later on I realized that I'd actually done my job correctly. Time to go to work on the grandkids.  ;D

My daughter isn't old enough to say great and profound things like that yet, but she still makes me proud.

Little bragging story... Today she had the choice to go to the park to play on the slides and swings or to my ranch. She will be 3 on the 24th of this month, and she chose to go to the ranch. In her own words she said she wanted to go "shooting and see the cows". I smiled at my wife like a jackass eating prickly pear.

Took her out there and brought along a Heritage Arms .22 Rough rider SA (cheaper version of the Ruger Single-Six). Went down to the bass tank. (All our tanks are named by what fish my grandfather stocked them with many, many years ago). She drove my truck there, she worked the steering while I did the brake and gas... Used the brake a lot.  ;D

I loaded up the .22 pistol, put hearing protection & sun glasses on her and shot into the tank. She holds the gun, with my help of course, and she squeezes the trigger once I have it cocked. After she decided she had shot enough, I set her up on the tailgate of the truck and she would take the .22 rounds out of the box and load them into the single action as I turned the cylinder. I think she had as much fun putting bullets in there for me as she did hearing the gun go BANG.

I know there will probably be people pissed off at me that I let my 3 year old daughter shoot and load a gun. More so then her even laying eyes on a gun, but I don't care. That's the way my dad did it and that's damn sure the way I will do it.

Pissed off doesn't even begin to describe the way I feel. She's 3 for goodness sake. You should have her on at least a 9mm by now. Quit wasting her time with dinky .22's. ;D

P.S. My son's 3 also............and single. ;)

;D ;D LMFAO!!! I hope he still is.  ;D ;D Call me when he is 18.

Promise right now though, there won't be a boy in the tri-county area that won't be scared to f'n death of me. They are going to have to have some balls to talk to my little girl.

Added note... There will be a purchase of a Pink Crickett .22 rifle when she can actually hold the thing by herself. Length of pull on it is still too long. BTW, I showed it to her in the gun store and now she constantly asks me for her "Princess gun". That's right, still wants to be a princess but loves guns and the outdoors.

Indeed! Had you posted this a week earlier I would have offered you one hell of a deal on a Mauser sigle shot youth .22 that was like glass. I wound up donating it to a cub scout/weblo troop instead. Now all I can do is suggest that, just for sport, you ask your dealer if you can get a My Little Pony duracoat finish. Corrupt them young my man.  ;D
