The spot on VCA's was greatly articulated.  I spent some portion of my youth in and out of neighboring New Orleans.  New Orleans and environs certainly has a large population of VCA's and wannabees.  I can't underestimate how true this is and how just a glance (stink eye as it was put) can get your throat cut....many people can't frame that in their minds because they don't understand the society that was so aptly described.  MB is exactly right, their values are not "our" values and an unintended "dis" is enough to get someone whacked; expecially when you don't know how to "act right" and become immediately submissive in a situation where you don't have the upper hand.

The moving fast moving idea hit the X-ring.  I avoided possible death and dismemberment on the interstate when broken down once...a car pulled across 3 or 4 lanes in behind me just far enough to not have to back up to leave with two bad guys.  Luckily, I had an SKS sporting a 30 round mag on it and made it handy as the door of that car was opening.  In my mind, early interdiction surprises an VCA because it's my estimation they have an arrogance flaw that's part of their make up which makes them think everyone who's not like them is a chump. 

VCA's respond well to immediate, overwhelming force.  It's exactly like MB and his guest said, in their society you immediately go the humillity route, or suffer great consequences.

Man, can't say it enough...very well put Mr. Bane.  This is real information that can save someone's life.  Recognizing bad guys and understanding their customs and mentality is something deserving of expansion in future podcasts.

Thanks, Rastus...I do believe that if you get inside a VCA's decision loop, as you did in your example, you are effectively not worth the trouble, which is, of course, the point. But you've got to do it very quickly and be ready for an escalation on their part, which you were)!
