California AB962
« on: May 03, 2009, 07:38:51 PM »
All of us Californians need to contact our Assembly members and let them know our opposition to AB962.
This bill, under the guise of giving LE a tool to track down criminals through ammunition purchase records, will do the following:

Prohibit online or mail order ammunition purchases of handgun ammo
Prohibit the private party transfer of more that 50 rounds of ammo per month with out an ammunition sellers license
Create the ammunition sellers license for any retailer selling handgun ammo
Require sellers to require buyers to give a thumbprint and driver's license at the time of purchase of handgun ammo
Create a database to store all ammunition purchaser information for LE to use to track down where the shooter bought his ammo from (yeah, right)

This bill goes to the Appropriations Committee on Wednesday. The author of the bill, DeLeon, is the chair of the Appropriations Committee. So it will pass the committee. We may get a chance to kill it in committee if enough people express their opposition to the committee members and their district assembly members. So, email can be done but expect the usual off putting responses. Call and fax if you can. If you are an NRA member hopefully your MC has already sent you an email about this.

I've already sent emails, letters, I've called and signed a petition. It's a shame about AB 357 (CCW) failing though.

The members in Kalifornia, I hope for the best, it's going to be the toughest on you FIRST.

Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."
Col. Jeff Cooper.
