Storage in a safe for your car makes sense. Carry off body in you car can create problems.
Control- You step out to pump gas and others are in the car. You step out to talk to the friendly police office. Anytime you are not in control of the gun it could become a problem.
Accident- You are involved in an accident and the gun goes flying (even mounted thing happen to fly in an accident) and you need the gun it could be un-reachable.

Good Points.  I agree.  Especially the friends in the car point.   :-\

Great site.  I might use one of theirs for my own house.  I didn't know this existed.   I THANK YOU for pointintg this out to me.

Now....What I have is from Eagle Industries.  http://www.eagleindustries.com

They have a holster system that with a little inginuity a person can use anywhere.  In some of their old ads, they show a women sitting at her desk with this holster system attached UNDER her desk.  Now that's what got me thinking, why not use it in my car instead of a desk.  SO, I bought the plate onto which the holster will fit with your gun inside of it.  I envisiosned being able to attach this mounting plate to the hump of my car next to my right leg and calf.  .....

I couldn't find it on their page. Can you post pics, or a link?

Here, try this one, it should work.  http://www.eagleindustries.com/

The one I have is pictured here.  It's the RTI Wheel.  Then you select your holster to match your gun and attach the two together.

SOME STATES HAVE LAWS... THAT YOU MUST HAVE OR ABLE CONTROL YOUR FIREARMS/ IN PLAIN ENGLISH...
YOU MUST HAVE COMPLETELY CONTROL OF YOUR FIREARMS IN OR OUT CAR. AS WELL ON YOU.

Yes Mr. Farley, you are absolutely correct.  The more I think of it the less I like the idea except to have a holster in my car which I may use while driving. (more comfortable)  Then, when stepping out of my car I should take it with me on my person.  THEN, I will have "CONTROL" of it at all times.

Thanks to all who have replied to this.

As the FBI agents in Florida found out, laying your gun on the seat is a good way to get killed.

And, as Seattle's police chief found out, leaving your pistol in the car gets it stolen.

And as previously stated some states don't allow it, like WA state.   I have a CCP here and always keep it on my person, driving or not.  Many times I use a photo vest for driving and transfer to my IWB holster when dismounted.  ;D

Your state laws should be the determining factor, as others have noted. But if you decide to go with a mount, here is one might be worth looking at.

I've got no connection to them, just found them when I was doing my search for a car mount.

No, unless the handgun goes with you, when you leave the car.

I wouldn't. It would be too easy to forget and drive into a no gun zone, like a school. The last thing you want is to get in legal trouble because you forgot you had a gun in your car.
