If the price is good, I definitely would. It would probably never make California's list though, unless it has a magazine disconnect safety.

I'm going to Phoenix to find out.

At one time, Ruger had developed the XGI, which was not really an M1A, but similar. It was more of a Mini 14 in .308. I'd like to see that come out.

Since they now have a little packing auto, the only thing they don't really have is a combat shotgun. I'd love to see how they'd do one of those.

Although I don't think you could ever have too many 1911's, I agree on the part about innovation.
However, innovation in pistol design (and I mean TRUE innovation, as in no one has thought of it and built it yet) will be slow going I'm afraid. Most of the 'new' stuff we will see will be aimed at ergonomics, weight savings, and new cartridge design, but not anything that is totally 'out there' new. Almost every new design out there now has some unique feature but was partly borrowed from a previous concept.
We already have and use polymer, rubber, plastic, steel, carbon fiber, stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, scandium and every other "fruit-of-the-loomium" bouncing around in gun designs now. It'll be hard to come up with something 'completely' new and improved.
I think the next evolution will be in recoil design to allow something like an all-polymer gun (slide and frame) for a cartridge like the .45 ACP and still only weigh a pound or so. Imagine a 1911 Officers Model that weighs less than a pound but has no recoil.
It may be twenty years in the future (or more) but it may eventually happen.

Of course, I may just be farting in a whirlwind....but that the way i see it.   ;)

I don't know peg. Discovery Channel had a show called Future Weapons or something like that. I remember seeing one that was an electronically detonated caseless cartridge piece with multiple barrels. It was designed as an AA weapon to shoot a zillion rounds a minute, but they did have a handgun proto-type. It doesn't need to be all buck rogers, but more ammo, higher power, greater cocealabilty, less recoil (pick 2), would seem to be doable.

Ruger's teasers says another platform redefined.  Whatever that means.  They already have had lever actions.
Poly Redhawk?
Pump Shotgun?
Semi auto shotgun?
.30 cal  battle rifle?
poly, carbon, or piston AR type?

I would if I needed another 1911 but I don't. The Ruger 345 is a nice DA 45 that came out before the SR9 and it has a hammer. I like it, but I don't need another SA45.

I have several Rugers and they all are good. You know what, I do not have, and never have had, a 10/22  --- Mmm.

One thing about Ruger, they always stand behind their products.

Aargh! Fixed that for ye, ye pirate.

Maybe Ruger has a firearm designed around a caseless round on the boards.

Me: Naw, we just apply a gun-shaped remedy to those extreme life threatening situations that call for it. All the less urgent problems we're willing to discuss.

I saw it also....neat concepts and very doable.......but do you ever think the little peons of the public will ever get their grimy little hands on something like that?
I know they already have some 'out of this world' armament.
You can buy electronically fired guns now...CVA makes a black powder muzzleloader that uses electric igniton and I think there are some target guns that do also.

I'm talking about an affordable firearm for widespread public sale, not futuristic, one-off military only stuff.
I'm talking about another John Browning or Bill Ruger or John Thompson or John Garrand or Eugene Stoner or Ronnie Barrett.....someone who takes a blank sheet of paper and ends up building a new idea that impacts generations of shooters.
"I expect perdition, I always have. I keep this building at my back, and several guns handy, in case perdition arrives in a form that's susceptible to bullets. I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

What! Everyone has to have at least one 10-22! Isn't that a law, or something? I noticed that the new ones have plastic trigger guards. Has anyone had problems with them?

:o A combat shotgun.... That would be interesting from Ruger.

Maybe a large pistol caliber version of the .22 lever?
