But it would be COOL.  They used to make a nice little 44 carbine called the deer slayer.

I had one in my attic for a while.  I was hiding it for my landlord from her drunken son....Never got to shoot it but it was a nice little rifle, well balanced.  He used it for bear.

I could see Ruger coming out with a 1911 and an AR-15.  Everyone else has them, why not jump in?  Now that the company has turned away from they're Restricted Capacity policies, there should be nothing keeping them out.

The below images comes from the Ruger 2008 Annual Meeting report (I add blue arrows):

This year they introduced a compact carry revolver. This following image is from the Annual Meeting report held last month (I add blue arrows):

You can only tell your shareholders you are missing out on a major growth area so many times before they start getting angry! I reckon it will be an AR-15.

*If these are real, and the leaked pic of a bolt carrier is also real...... It has to be an AR

Exit Question: Man, this is fun! Isnt it?

Other than a 10-22 I own, NO I'd not buy another Ruger.
Just have never met a Ruger I like - Don't care about there LCP and the LCR - I have a 642 and a Kahr..... Ruger appears to be a ME TOO company -- After other companies bring out new product years later Ruger goes "Oh hey - maybe we should start making polymer pistols too......"

No for mew there are plenty of other companies out there and Ruger is just not in my favorites column

It has served Rugers marketing department for what it was intended!  Get people talking, get people wishing, get the blood boiling for a new and improved something they probably already have!

New and improved widgits sell like hotcakes regardless of what's changed...

It's always fun!

Well, This will be the extent of my fun. Another gun purchase for me will be a good long ways off -- no matter what it is they come out with. Its just really fun to see all this excitement surrounding the industry in general. We have not really had much new to talk about since SHOT, and this has been a great injection of excitement and anticipation.

*I am officially casting my vote that it will be an AR -- and when it is, I WILL say "I told ya so".

I would consider it after the first recall.
