Help... looking for a product.

I figured this was the best place to ask.

I'm looking for a door sensor that will set off a flashing light rather then make noise.

I often work late nights in my shop with very loud power tools and doubled up hearing protection, I could not hear some one kicking in the door or a "ding dong" that you see at a 711 type of store.  I want this not only for night time but also for the day.  I can't set the alarm while I'm there as it will go off.  I also can't change the alarm system due to my lease.

My shop is located in a industrail area, miles between me and the nearest house and most biz close at 5.

TAB,  I don't know of any off hand, but you might want to do a search for products for hearing impaired.

I know they have devices that will flash table lights for doorbell and even phone....

I would assume you can connect such a device to a light source of your choice.

I'd use a strobe light of some fashion to really get your attention.  Flashing incandescents or cheap roatatiing beacons may not get your attention quickly enough.  Quality commercial strobes start at over $60 and can go up to $500.  However, "party" strobes are a lot cheaper....here's one example.  At Halloween time they can be had even cheaper.  You could use two or three to gain solid coverage to all sides of your work shop.

You could use a magnetic "burgler alarm" switch (NO... Normally Open).  Most are low voltage which is okay if your device is a 12V device.  Of course then you have to add a 12V power supply.

Buy a standard yard flood with a motion sensor.  Remove the sensor from the assembly and mount it outside above the door and mount the flood lights in the shop and wire it up remotely from the sensor.

30 bucks....your a contractor TAB, the wiring should be a piece of cake!

You don't have to disassemble and rework.

Mount the light just inside the door with the sensor aimed at the top of the door; turn one bulb so it shines in the area in where you are working; and replace the other light with a screw in plug socket and run cord to any other location you want light signals.
