Wow! My very own thread. I don't know what to say. So I'll go with this. I have never defended the anti-war movement and always supported our troops, hell your tax dollars helped put me through school via army ROTC. The only (off hand) comment I have made about the war was that I was tired of its wounds inflicted on American civil society still dominating presidential elections. We all know that the protests and counter protests were about a lot more than the war. It was a bit of a quiet civil war here. The left won in '70s, Reagan brought back the righ in the '80s and we now seeming to be moving past those wounds. This is good. End of my point. There's nothing more to see here.

carter won because propagandized voters believed the BS about the "Republican warmongers". when in fact it was the DEMS war ENDED by NIXON the Republican. Reagan won because carter was , like most Dem presidents, a total fu#k up.
Obviously you and other so called "Libertarians" do not learn from history that the basic Democratic platform is a failure.

My 2 cents worth, I never support a United Nations police action.

What UN ? We were bailing out the gutless French for the 3rd time 50 years.
You know how pointless stuff can get to be a habit.

The French are gutless. The Korean War, which to this day is unresolved. was a UN police action. That "war" I believe left a bad taste in the mouths of many of our people and was part of what fueled the resistance to Vietnam. Many young men did not see the point of being drafted to fight in another quagmire. Vietnam did fall to the communists, that was not good, but it was not after all the end of the world.
