Not because the Sig is popular, but because the Sig is a better gun than the Ruger semi...always was.
I got the blues as my companion.

Most people will advise the Sig because it is popular.  In contrast, I advise the Ruger because it is a rugged piece of equipment that will endure the tough use you put it through.

So, what you are saying is the US Navy Seals use the Sig because of the "cool"factor ?

Because you are leaning toward the Ruger, pick the Ruger. That's probably the best reason to pick that particular gun for you. It sounds like you have the most confidence with your Ruger. I have a friend who is a cop here that carries a Sig in .40 on-duty and prefers his 94 off-duty. Reliability is going to be most important and both are pretty reliable guns.

The Sigs only fit my hand fairly well too.

Yes, the Sig has a "cool" factor that makes it attractive to many people.  So be it.  I make it a point to keep my distance from the Kool Kids.

As for my own opinion of Sig, the owners of this board still have in place a policy (I believe) that prohibits product bashing and general crusades against a firearms manufacturer.  To remain in compliance with their wishes, I will follow Mom's advice: If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all.

I will take a Beretta 92FS any day over a Sig P226.  In fact, I have.

As for the Ruger, it will not win any beauty contests, but it will handle the .40 Auto cartridge well and keep going despite what one may throw at it.  I understand that Ruger wants to follow the prevailing trends with its SR9, but I hope it does not abandon the P Series of pistols, which are vastly under-rated weapons.

Can't believe no one mentioned Glock out of the choice between a Sig and a Ruger.  ;D Trevor, my only advice is choose what you are comfortable with but I would suggest the .40 S&W as tombogan mentioned.

Love my M+P!!!,.. whoops,....wrong thread,..

Seriously, both are good pistols. Creature comforts and  "feel" will be the deciding factor for you.

As I have posted before, sometimes the "right" one picks you.

My FN 9mm and M+P .40 did,...

To keep Ping happy, I'll mention Glock. If the question was which gun to BUY, that would be my choice. The question was, which of the guns you already own to carry. They are obviously both reliable, or you wouldn't be asking this question. You are obviously saisfied with accuracy, or you wouldn't be asking. The question then is which is most comfortable, most concealable, and easiest to operate under stress? I've never shot either and don't have a clue. You have, just take them to the range, shoot some close range shillouette froom the holster, and make your call. Just my .02.

Actually after thinking about it, I would say take the first one your hand falls on, carry it for a week, then repeat with the other, the one that you forget you are wearing is the one to go with.
