Old Eyes - New Sights

I've heard about guys (and Gals) covering the white dots on there sights with black tape. They say they like them better. Has anyone out there ever tried brightly colored tape to help pick up your sights faster? It seems to me that it would work. any input would be helpful.

Use bright (neon) nail polish.

Nail polish works for me as long as you refresh it every couple of years when it chips off. (Don't you hate it when you chip the

if the nail polish works then you may want to invest some cash and have a fiber optic installed. I do not compete without one now if it can be helped.

Put a base coat of white on the sight first, then a top coat in your color of choice, this will make it look brighter and easier to see

These old eyes like black on black with a patridge front if the light is good.  Those fiber optic front sights look good in the woods and low light... My Performance Center  460 has a green fiber front sight that I really like.

I  liked the narrow black front post so much on my Ruger 22/45, that I ordered the Sevigny Competition Sights for both my Glocks. They are virtually the same to me. Now I can find them quickly and center in the headshot IPSC target better. All 3 of my guns are the same now.

I even removed my night sights because I have keratoconus and saw ghosts of all the dots.....

Another trick I use.......I got from Bass Pro Shop - Fly Fishing Dept. .....plastic fold down bifocal segments that clip onto the bill of my cap that allow me to wear my shooters glasses or sunglasses all the time.....and flip em down when I shoot to see my sights or when I am fishing so I can thread the line through the eye of the hook......Try it!    $15-20....I can't remember exactly how much.
