Let's not forget our history here folks.  Israel has already established the fact that they are ready, willing, and capable of handing out butt whippings, even when the odds are against them.  They are kind of like the Chuck Norris of nations.  Also, I don't mean to inject religion into the discussion, but... you don't mess with God's chosen people.  When it comes right down to it, this is something our own country had better keep in mind.  That and the fact that they are our only true allies in that area, as Tom Bogan mentioned earlier.

Swoop

Sssshhhheeeeeeple..., sssshhheeeeeeple..., sheep, sheep, sheep, sheep, sssshhhheeeeeeple!

We still count the French as "friends", too.  Don't we? ::)  Not that they ever attacked a US Naval ship, flying a huge US storm flag, in daylight conditions of perfect visibility!  I went to school with a girl whose grandfather was seriously injured when our Israeli "friends" attacked the USS LIberty.

So, yes - Let's definitely not forget our history, here, folks!

Despite prior conflicts, I think the British Commonwealth, Germanic and Scandanavian nations are our best friends, overall.  Just my opinion...

All things being equal if you look at the last 30 years, Israel has provided consistent intelligence to the US and is the only true alley we have in the Middle East that would if the SHTF come to our aid. Not to mention if we were to go into a true conflict with Syria or Iran we would need Israel for logistical support and intelligence. I know that with JackAZZ in the white house our likelihood of all out war with Iran is unlikely but, I do believe it's coming and we will be involved most likely not by choice. At this point I wish Israel would hit and hit hard now while there is a small chance we would be able to help. All hell is about to be unleashed mark my words.

Somebody needs to let Isreal cut loose and shred some of the morons in the Middle East. Hell, they have been fighting for 2,000 years and have war down to a science. Just my two bits.  :)

If the missle did what the Iranians claimed it did (big if), I got $10 on the next 30 days to hit the missle production facility and or fixed launch platforms.

If the missle was a big put on, the IAF will do nothing.

Ratcatcher, according to Yahoo news yesterday, ( AP for what that's worth) Pentagon sources verified that performance exceeded our expectations. (I don't have the link)

Angie, The reason they shot up the USS Liberty was because it was an NCA intelligence ship and they did not want us to know just how badly they were slaughtering the Egyptians. The US AND USSR would have pushed for a cease fire, but a lesson needed to be taught.
Besides, half the IDF lives in NY, no joke, when the IDF mobilizes their reserves you can not get a seat becuase of all the Jews reporting for duty. When Bibi's brother Jonathan Netanyahu was killed on the Entebbe raid 4 July 76 his home of record was his parents address in Boston.

And the French have NEVER been our freinds, the only reason they helped us during the Revolution was to keep England from massing forces against them. We wound up fighting an undeclared naval war against them in 1800.

Oui! Oui! Massuer! ;)

Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."

Without going into to much detail I can say that during the cold war, we kept a real close eye on the French Naval Forces, surfaced and submerged.  Doubt things are much different today.

We trust the French only so far which is about the range of a Mark 48 torpedo....

France, Spain, ____________ fill in the blank country is going to sit on their hands and let the IDF and US DOD deal with anything that happens in that region. Their only going to come up for air when the dust settles and there are contracts for weapons/re-construction.

As for an Iranian missile launch. That is barely a threat. The only way the Iranian military is going to launch a missile/bomb is on the back of one of their donkey carts!  First, because their most advanced missile technology is Photoshop! Second, because Israel will not allow Iran to develop a robust missile based nuclear attack capability.

The nuclear threat in that region remains low because of the IDF nuclear arsenal. I sleep well at night knowing that should any country (Iran, Syria, etc) attempt a nuclear based attack, that Mecca and 1 billion Muslims are going to reach 10 million degrees in very short order! And even the radical jihadists know it.

The threat will remain the destabilizing effects of Islamic based terrorism. Infiltration of western society/popular culture by a Muslim population intent on western conversion to Islamic fundamentalism. And Islamic leadership that are the puppets of fundamentalist clerics or are themselves clerics. O and B ho!
If it's wet, sticky and not yours!! Don't Pick It Up!!!   But if you do, you gotta lick it!!
