France, Spain, ____________ fill in the blank country is going to sit on their hands and let the IDF and US DOD deal with anything that happens in that region. Their only going to come up for air when the dust settles and there are contracts for weapons/re-construction.

As for an Iranian missile launch. That is barely a threat. The only way the Iranian military is going to launch a missile/bomb is on the back of one of their donkey carts!  First, because their most advanced missile technology is Photoshop! Second, because Israel will not allow Iran to develop a robust missile based nuclear attack capability.

The nuclear threat in that region remains low because of the IDF nuclear arsenal. I sleep well at night knowing that should any country (Iran, Syria, etc) attempt a nuclear based attack, that Mecca and 1 billion Muslims are going to reach 10 million degrees in very short order! And even the radical jihadists know it.

The threat will remain the destabilizing effects of Islamic based terrorism. Infiltration of western society/popular culture by a Muslim population intent on western conversion to Islamic fundamentalism. And Islamic leadership that are the puppets of fundamentalist clerics or are themselves clerics. O and B ho!

You really don't keep up with the news very much do you. For starters, while the french may be a bunch arrogant surrender monkeys Spain has been one of our most reliable allies in the war on terror, while they DID pull their troops out of Iraq after the Madrid train bombing, they have continued to be of great assistance in the intelligence war against terror world wide.
Secondly just this past weekend Iran launched a missile successfully that OUR military says has sufficient range to hit Isreal, their nuke weapons program has not been secret for the last 15 years and it is assumed that they have between 5-15 either assembled or awaiting assembly.
You also seem to have missed hearing about last winters raid by Israel on a Syrian weapons facility where they also landed Special Ops troops and seized material that included N Korean advisers, it is generally believed that this was where Saddam's weapons programs went to.

Despite prior conflicts, I think the British Commonwealth, Germanic and Scandanavian nations are our best friends, overall.  Just my opinion...

Angie, last time I checked, these countries are not in the Middle East.  As I said in my post, Israel is our only true ally in that area.  The rest of your reply has already been refuted by the good Mr. Bogan, so I won't waste my time.  I have never been offended just because someone has a different point of view, but if your going to be so condescending the least you could do is actually read the post your attacking.  Aside from that, welcome to the forum.  Hopefully our future exchanges can be a little more civil.

Because Bush Dad did not want to deal with the factional fighting and Nation building BS that Bush son got stuck with. The Libs bash W for invading Iraq but it was something that would need to be done as long as Saddam was in power. What westerners Especially self righteous liberals have a hard time understanding, ( and I think Ratcatcher will confirm this) to their way of thinking Saddam won Gulf war 1. His army got wrecked, and he had to pull out of Kuwait, but he was still securely in power, he didn't lose any territory, he still had a free hand to crush the Shiites and Kurds, He still had the Kuwaiti gold reserves that he stole ($800 MILLION) and the billions he owed other Arab countries for the war against Iran was written off as bad debt. Trying to get oil and money to pay that debt was his objective in invading in the first place, so even though his army was crushed and Kuwait was liberated he still achieved his objective, that makes it a win. As we all know the real issues could not be settled, victory of the west would not be accepted by the Arab world, as long as Saddam stayed in power, so a second war was inevitable.

Yep.  Maybe Bushdaddy recognized the culture better than most.  The culture recognizes strength...aka Colonel Momar Quadaffi, Sadam Hussein, etc.  Yak, yak, yak...we're gonna do this, we're gonna do that, yak, yak, yak, until you punch them in the nose and then they bow down to you just like out BHO did in Saudi.  Iron fist...that's what rules in the region and the population will not be orderly without that.

Take a look at Colonel Momar...yak, yak, yak....F-111 and bombs, couple of splash downs in the Med...no more yak-yak....he did oversee Lockerbee after that, but quietly.  Once exposed...he didn't say a lot about anything...bow down.  Now, look at his playbook, he was doing footsee with the terrorist but by the mid-90's he had his own problems with the iman dudes.  What...you didn't hear about that....well, look it up for yourself...the imans were yak-yak-yak squawking about the same things they do in the Middle East...however, Colonel Momar reminded them he was the ruler...and they disappeared...no more yak-yak from the population, he zeroed out the imans and now he has no political dissent.  That's what works, if you disagree fine, but they are not like your neighbors next door and history shows they respond well to the iron fist.

Without going into to much detail I can say that during the cold war, we kept a real close eye on the French Naval Forces, surfaced and submerged.  Doubt things are much different today.

We trust the French only so far which is about the range of a Mark 48 torpedo....

Obviously an inside joke...and I do get it and appreciate it.

Oddly enough, because of the treatment he received from the extremists after spending bunches of money and getting his country bombed and embargoed, Libya has shifted decisively toward the west. The Kahdaffi regime is actively assisting in the War on terror and there is popular support for further easing relations as the Libyan people want to trade.
