New Gun Tax
« on: May 22, 2009, 02:17:45 PM »
Folks, this just came across my email at work. I have not had time to look into it, but I'm sure some of you will.
Subject: ??? WTF !!!....NOW THEY WANT TO TAX OWNERSHIP OF FIREARMS

They won't be able to take them away without a huge bloody firefight....so now there's a socialist movement to TAX them through the IRS tax system...

read this:
http://www.usacarry.com/forums/2nd-amendment-politics/8197-sb-2099-a.htm

ATTENTION... .........
Senate Bill SB-2099:
it will require that we put on our 2009 1040 federal tax form all guns that you have or own.
It may require fingerprints and a tax of $50 per gun.

This bill was introduced on Feb. 24th.
Bill will become public knowledge 30 days after it's voted into law.

This is an amendment to the Internal Revenue Act of 1986.
This means that the Finance Committee can pass this without the Senate voting on it at all.

The full text of the proposed amendment is on the U.S. Senate homepage, http://www.senate. gov/ <blockedhttp://www.senate.%20gov/>

You can find the bill by doing a search by the bill number SB-2099.

You know who to call; I strongly suggest you do.

Please send a copy of this e-mail to every gun owner you know to help STOP this bill!!

I hope I'm not passing along a hoax...well, actually I kinda hope it IS a hoax.

I almost crapped myself, until I read Haz's post. It does seem like this would be political suicide at this time for any politico who'd go along with it. The trend is that more people are accepting the second.

This would be an overt infringement of the second amendment. Particularly, for those with less money - "I can't afford to defend myself, because of the tax burden". That might call for a tea party that would stay in the history books.

For future reference any bill started by the house will have a prefix of "H.R." and from the Senate "S." followed by the number of the bill.

....H.R.2099 or S.2099...some are joint bills and have another type of prefix see attached...

Gee - They have a system???

I could find no info on the referenced Senate Bill - with or without the correct prefix. What I did find was interesting from the House: HR 2202 - A bill to allow a credit on taxes for purchasing a safe to store your guns. Could be good, but I'd rather they had no clue what or when I bought my safe etc. None of their business!!!

Then don't claim the deduction. This is the kind of federal reg I like (sort of). An incentive to do the right thing, like securing your weapons buying energy effecient appliences etc, that doesn't MAKE you do it or penalize you if you don't. I'm still not pro-reg, but as far as they go, this one isn't too bad.

Shaking head in stunned amazement,.......

Why does big brother need to do this? Coming from your Libertarian point of view, I thought this (false or whatever), would have you crying BS!

Don;t need to give them any ideas....

Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."

Thanks, Haz! This did come from a buddy of mine who is pretty paranoid. I'll have to suggest that he check things out more before passing them on.
I am SO busy...that takes care of my 5 minutes of DRTV today.

"If you carry a gun, people will call you paranoid. That's ridiculous.  If I have a gun, what in the hell do I have to be paranoid for."
