I don't know about your area but 8 days for me was well over 100 grand just for the stay.  The test were on top of that!

Richard

PS:  Just read your answer and couldn't believe it!  I don't even think it would cost that much in the Cleveland Clinic which is about 45 min. from here!!!!!!!  I could get the meds cheaper off the street!

My active cancer treatment was 38,000 a month for 2 years, cost for 5 weeks stay in the Duke bone marrow isolation and transplant, so much apparently they don't tell anybody. It is paid out of a global fund.  other medical care during treatment and transplant a little over 160, 000 . Surgery to save my hide 110,000, heart attack 165, 000.12, Semi annual scans and lab tests at Duke 12,383 each.  Out of pocket I owe enough to buy a Ferrari.

My mothers' cremation and funeral, 4,735.  Dying is a bargain in comparison.

How?  Don't get too personal, I just find slamming five grand in meds in a 24 hour period hard to comprehend.   Ten grand a day for the room, someone needs to make a Expedia or Hotwire setup for hospitals. ;)  It's a meat market out there.  This is exactly why I don't go to the doctor, 'you came in for your physical, but we found x, y, and z.  Now you need to take these pills three times a day, every day, until your dead.'  I've learned enough to know that medicine is a business like anything else.

After my first heart attack the IV meds they gave me to keep be on this side of the dirt were $5,000 a bag, and emptied into me at the rate of 2 every 3 hours.
I love waking up every morning knowing that Donald Trump is President!!

.......after getting bitten by a brown snake, ......

After listening to all the animal nuts on TV, I thought that was a death sentence. How bad are they?

yep  they can be nasty buggers,

however the Dr's here know a lot about them  and there is good treatments

personally I if I had to be bitten by one of them or an Inland Tai Pan  I would take a Brownie over them.

either way I would be making sure a Professor that I know well is dealing with it  ;)  ( he is Australia's leading Toxicology and is here in SA )
