MAybe someone did too much panic buying, ran the CC up to much, not working or lost a job, and all the buying was a very sore spot with the significant other.  The SO decided to dispose of the contensious sore spot.

My first gues tho is stolen property being disposed of.

Naw, if that were the case it would've been the husband's bloody corpse found in the dumpster.     ;D

Years back you could dumpster dive at some of the military bases around here for AR15/M16 mags. They would use them a few times in practice and in the trash they would go.

I wouldn't have reported it to the police.

Its sad its come to this, but I'm right there with you. I have a couple of old but still very functional guns (pre "68) that I've inheirited, that are virtually untraceable. Those aren't for sale.

Thank God, and may he Rest In Peace, my Grandfather. Left me all he had, and there is no paper trail. Just kinda a family thing.

He was a wise man.
Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."

Bet it was a widow, or family members who didn't know any better disposing of the deceased's "Junk".

Gun parts and about 2,000 rifle rounds were discovered in a Dumpster.

The parts were eight upper receivers for an AR-15 rifle, worth about $500 each, Perot said.

If this turns out not to have been a case of ditching evidence, maybe a local gunshop should consider running an ad like "Are you considering trashing four grand in gun parts? Call us and we'll come pick them up free of charge."

They must have been complete upper assemblies not just upper recievers.

If I found something like that in the dumpster, I would first look around for some kind of "Punk'd" crew, the black cars and guys with ear plugs... After all that was clear, I would load up and haul ass out of there, like Taco Bell leaving my colon.
