Gun Ban Overturned
Most likely, you've all heard about Senator Coburn's slamdunk amendment to repeal the Reagan administration's unconstitutional gun ban in National Parks.

Well, Obama signed it into law last Friday.  This is a great (but small) victory for gun owners and gun rights supporters all over the country.

However, we need to make something especially clear:  Do NOT carry your guns in National Parks just yet.

The bill doesn't take effect until February, which means the amendment doesn't take effect until February.

We hate telling our supporters not to exercise their constitutional rights, but the fact remains that you will find yourself in serious legal trouble if you carry your (constitutionally protected) firearm in a national park before February 2010...

...unless, that is, Coburn gets the same amendment passed onto other bills which take effect quicker -- something he plans to do.

We'll keep you up to date on all the developments of this story.  For now, it's a small victory that we can celebrate...

...but don't dare protect yourself on federal park property until the Department of the Interior says you can.  Ha.

Keep track of all the people that choose to make this "the hill they want to die on".  don't forget, and send them a message for the 2010 elections.
Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."
Col. Jeff Cooper.

Thanks for the warning. You just know there is going to a cosmic convergance if the word doesn't get out. A proud, pro-2A guy, unwisely choosing open carry if its legal in his state, who also hasn't goten the memo about the Feb. start date, and some tree hugging anti-2A park ranger who's all pissed off and just waiting to bust somebody. Nobody wins and we all look bad.
