SAFETY-Watch the direction of the Muzzle

Got these photos in emails from two different sources.

There is clearly major toe damage (Haz will cringe). I could not substantiate either causation with internet searches so there is the remote possibility that the injury was not firearm related.

One source says it was due to an AD at a skeet range. Shooter had the shotgun barrel resting on the toe of his boot and BANG.
The other email chalked it up to a possibly a .45.

I would probably lean toward the shotgun theory as there appears to be a powder burn ring around the hole in the shoe.

Anyone with info please speak up.

Looks to clean for a large caliber 20, 12g shotgun.  Burn damage is also limited for a scattergun.

IMHO scenario, sitting on a couch, like the photos taken with pistol in hand, holding pistol toward a crossed leg. Picture indicates left foot, for a right handed shooter, they cross the weak leg over the dominant. Hence shot own self in foot with .45.

Had pistol on lap, left leg crossed over right, and BANG. with the .45.

Watched too many episodes of Quincy M.D. , and stayed at a Holiday Inn Express. ::)

He needs some dressing for the exposed bone, and a broad spectrum antibiotic mui pronto. Than get a podiatrist, with some recs for shoes.

He'll be rather "gimpy" for a while.

My first thought was that alcohol was still being involved. I mean, they cleaned the freakin foot up, all of the flesh debris and blood, and then took pictures!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why isn't there a ton of bandages on that foot? ? ? ?

No doubt on the gimpy limp.

You might be right about the .45 too, I don't know what different types of shot would do at PBR.........

Having tons of experience in the 'wound care' department ......the photos might have been taken a few days later during a bandage change.

Your right about the right foot, maybe he was ambidextrious.... Or just doing shots.....Not the kind that go bang from a gun either.

Never a good combination, Whatever he did, I'll bet he NEVER does it again,....

The pics not "fresh".  Looks like it's already been surgically debrided.
Also, the skin on top of the toe is nice and pink around the edges like it's already starting to heal.
