I'm going with handgun or rifle - .30 cal or larger, and mass quantities of alcohol ... ingested not for clean up  :o

Some stuff is way too embarrassing to remember much less record for ever with pictures.  I'd be trying to hide that hole rather than show it off!

Same here...but in this case, intelligence doesn't seem to be in the top five list of "things to do".

Very lucky, appears to have missed the bone by .5", or less, I believe pistol round, if shotgun, like the 28ga or .410. If the muzzle was resting on the boot. Still ouch, and hopefully lesson learned.  I think if it was at the skeet range, the bounce back off the ground would show on the bottom of the foot, it really seems a clean through and through.

It's the unloaded ones that get you every time.

He may need some antibiotics since feet are dirty and he has bone exposed. I had a 4" wide hole in my back that was left to heal from the inside out and I didn't take any antibiotics and never got an infection. A nurse would come to my house every day and pull the dirty sponges out and shove clean ones in the hole and put a bandage over it. When the hole got down to an inch wide I bandaged it myself and went back to work. I catch every virus that's going around but for some reason bacteria don't bother me.  ???

Care to explain how the hole came to be?

I know two ladies that have gone through similar - A neighbor developed a nasty infection following abdominal surgery, and my mother is in month three of a slow heal from a cyst.  Not something I want to go through, and I feel for anyone that does.

I had two 4" fatty tumors removed from my back. After it healed awhile one side had a little bump. I thought maybe it had a spoonful of pus in it so I poked it with an exacto knife. Blood serum sprayed all over the room. I went to an afterhours clinic and they made the hole bigger, drained more fluid, stuffed a tampon in the hole and told me to go to the emergency room. They cut me open even wider, drained more fluid and clots and cauterized it. I lost 3 quarts of blood serum and clots. Too bad they didn't give me anything for the pain until I was leaving. If I ever see that doctor again I'll kill him or at least make him hurt like I did.
