S&W 610
« on: May 29, 2009, 08:11:52 PM »
I went to the pawn shop today to make a payment on my S&W 1006 I have on layaway. I looked in the case and dang it he had a 6 inch 610 revolver. He said he has had it awhile. I must have missed it last time because of my excitement over finding the 1006. If he still has it when I pay off my layaway I might have to get it. They still make them but the price was right and it is in good shape. I need to stay out of there. I look for years and all of a sudden some of my favorite 10mm's keep showing up. I think I might have to collect them all. I love the 10mm and l love to shoot it. It is such a great round to bad it is underappreciated.

It's not that the round isn't appreciated, it's because you can't find them anywhere..

At least with the 610 you can shoot .40 S&W too...GO FOR IT!

That is true if I didn't reload and if not for DoubleTap ammo I would not be able to shoot 10mm. I just wish it was more popular so you could find ammo everywere like the 40 Short & Weak( just kidding I like the .40 I've been on 10mm Talk lately). I do believe if it were more readily availible more people would learn to love this cartridge. If it wasn't for Glock the 10mm would probably be long dead.

Actually, lots of folks sell 10mm like Federal, Winchester, Hornady, Corbon.....I just never see anything when I'm about and about.

No you usually have to order ammo to get it and that means shipping costs. Reloading is the only way to go and you can load them how hot or mild you like.

10mm is easier to find then  say 45 is now.

I like the 10 in a pistol, but there are better choice in a revo.
I always break all the clay pigeons,  some times its even with lead.

I have one auto and another on the way. I have always wanted a double action S&W to play with and I already reload the 10mm and .40 S&W so it is the perfect fit for me. I was thinking about a .357 but then I would have to find brass and buy more bullets. I think keeping it limited to the 10mm and .40 will save me money in the long run. Some of the loads for the 10mm will smoke a .357 in the 6" barrel.

Doesn't Ted Nugent carry the Glock in 10 mm? I thought I saw him mention it a couple of times on his "Spirit of the Wild" show? I remember reading the ballistic reports from the FBI when 10 mm got started. I wanted to get one but got the .40 S&W instead.

Yes Nugent carries the Glock 20 and I have one as well. I am ahuge fan of the 10mm. If I end up with the 610 it will make 3 10mm's for me.

That is a dangerous question.  Ted carries an armory where ever he goes  ;D

My first semi-auto was a 1911 in 10mm.  I traded it, because I couldn't get ammo for it.  The only thing I was ever able to find here was American Eagle in lead RN.  That was in the days before internet, so it was hard to track down as well.
If I appear taller than other men it is because I am standing on the shoulders of others.
