Research suggests cats are not as smart as we think
« on: June 16, 2009, 06:05:10 PM »
It will cause outrage among some cat owners, but research suggests the pets are not as clever as some humans assumed – or at least they think in a way we have yet to fathom.

Psychology lecturer Britta Osthaus says cats do not understand cause-and-effect connections between objects. She tested the thought processes of 15 of them by attaching fish and biscuit treats to one end of a piece of string, placing them under a plastic screen to make them unreachable and then seeing if the cats could work out that pulling on the other end of the string would pull the treat closer.

LOL. Cats are worthless animals. No offense Hazcat but a cat just eats, sleeps and shits. You get an occasional furball hacked up or if you have an outdoor cat they will bring you a present from their hunt and leave it on the front porch. They get hair all over your belongings and not very good at cleaning up, ha-ha. Then the damn litter boxes make you want to puke unless you have worked for Roto Rooter for a few years. Then they cost a small fortune when they start falling apart around the age of 7.

Ok, enough ranting. Sorry again Haz, my mom always had fresh kitty litter and food for her siamese cat while my brother and I starved. Rough times then but the cat was better taken care of than us. Kind of prejudiced against domestic cats  now in case it does not show, lol.

Now as for the large game animals that reside in the United States, China, Siberia  and Africa, those are beautiful animals.

from article:

There is just one consolation. Humans don't understand string theory either.

They are lower maint. than dogs, and have been killing rats, roaches, and really stupid birds for centuries...
Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."
Col. Jeff Cooper.

Hey they are way beyond that with "M" theory, "M" standing for membrane.

Although we are huge dog people.. right now ( because of our lifestyle) Marshal and I have 3 cats. Although for the most part , they are outside .. we still let them come in when they want.  I am a fanatic about my house being clean and animal hair, so I bought a big sweeper called "the Animal" and it does a phenomenal job of keeping all the traces of animals off of things.
We have my old black witch cat "Sheeba" who is 19 yrs old..( she is pretty smart actually) and has been with me forever. We call her a witch cause she is so old and still can run fast up a tree.. jump and catch mice, moles and rabbits and birds out of the air. But she is starting to get bitchy. ( been around me too long)  ;D
Then we have Tiger.. who is so tuned in and in love with  Marshal that I wonder if somehow he isn't a reincarnated girlfriend .. LOL
Then we have the 'camo cat.. Toot'. I take full responsibility for her being here. She was a wilder than hell kitten that "appeared" at feeding time this last winter... couldn't get within half a block of her. But she was so unique in color
( I'm partial to camo stuff   ::)  ) and so frickin tiny and what a spitfire. So I took it as a mission to "tame "her.  Took me 3 months.. but I did it.. and now she is the cat of the house..and I have to remind myself that it was "I" who  brought her into the fold. She is still tiny. I think she was the runt...But what a pain.
She is overly tame now. wants to be right up with you no matter what you are doing. Granddaughter can wag her around and hold her all day and she loves it. But she s a pain in the ass too. Finally she seems to be getting the idea that ..............nooo.. never mind.. that is a lie.. She has no idea of anything...She still runs her own show..  sighhhhhhhh...  :-\

(((Look real close.. you will find her on Marshal lap)))

Cool a camo cat.
