Time for a recipe
Frog legs, figure two sets per person, and yes with the butt still attached (just not from buffo toads)
1/2 stick butter
3 cloves garlic thinly sliced
1/2 cup flat leaf (italian) parsley, diced
seasoned flour for dredging, add salt pepper or emerils essence
lemon

Melt butter over medium high
add garlic until just shy of turning brown
dredge legs in flour and saute, about 8-10 minutes, turning once, until golden
add parsely
spoon sauce over frog legs and enjoy with white wine or a cold beer

When I was a kid, 13-14 years old, we used to don the hip waders, attach a canvas bag to the belt, grap a spear and a Crossman pellet gun and go froggin at Hyser Lake outside of Rockford, MI.  The folks used to drop us off at dusk and we'd frog till 10-11 pm.  The bullfrogs close to shore we'd spear and those that were out further, we'd use the pellet gun.  Just shine a light and aim at the spot between the shine of the eyes and wade out to retrieve the kill.

Long about 10 or 10:30, I hear my buddy Matt hootin and hollering, I turn to see his flashlight shining like he's guiding a jet airliner, flashing all over the place like he's out of his mind.  Turns out that when he was shooting the bullfrogs off shore, he wasn't pumping that Crossman enough and he was just knocking them out temporarily.  They had come too while strapped to his belt bag and he was beating the jumping bag to death with the butt of the gun, scared the hell out him! ;D

Those days are gone but that memory will last a lifetime! :) :)

We used to do the same thing in an old pond near here when I was about 14.....until we realized a rather large alligator had taken up residence in said pond.

Actually, a great story from my mom. When she was a kid, my granddad used to go frogging in the glades. There was this  home "butcher shop" (actually just some black guy's house) where you would drop off your frogs in the gunny sack you caught them in at night, and they'd be left for you wrapped (outside in the Forida heat in a cooler, but hey it was the 40's and meat was scarce). Anway, my grandma picks up the bag, and her, the maid and my mom (age 4) proceed to empty it to make frogs legs. Turns out the guy wasn't home that night and the kitchen is filled with bloody wounded bull frogs hopping around the place, as the ice had melted and they were no longer stunned. All three of them were treed until the neighbor came in dealt with it. She still can't be in same room as a frog 50 years later. ;D

In NC, we would take a jon boat a small Honda Generator, and bolt some halogen lights to the bow shining down, stand up front with a gig, and get flounder.

This is a Texas version of the same thing.....

Water was sometimes only a couple feet deep or so along the flats, "aim was right behind the 2 red dots. (eyes), led to many a great fish fry....

Poles? We don't need no stinkin poles,....

I'll have to try that, I can get them "transparent", just head, tail, and ribs, but swimming away would be a challenge. 8)
