1958 Belgian Browning .22 take down with wheel sight.

My first rifle was a Belgian Browning take down in .22 short. Sold it in my 20s (Dumb Youngster). I regreted it ever since.

My Brother-in-Law bought me this one last Christmas. I bought the case from Browning, they started making them again. The case does not fit just right. Apparently the Japanese take down has a slightly smaller stock.

The pic with the .45 is for scale. This is a small, light weight and very slim rifle.

My first was a .22 short. I wish that I had kept it. They are the most rare and most valuable.

The one shown is .22lr.

It has a slot in the stock on the back side (should have shown pic) and a ram rod in the butt plate. Rod twists 90 degrees and pulls out. You load ammo in the slot and then push rod back in and twist to lock.

And, it ejects down.  I have a japanese grade I.  I assume this one is grade II?  The checkered stock is nice.  Wish mine was.  I've been thinking of adding sling swivels (yes, on a takedown) to mine.
I like the sights, trigger is great, it eats whatever I feed it.  I'm very happy with mine.  I bought a 10/22 and sold it a month later; now I know why it has such a large aftermarket.  I wonder how the 10/22 sold enough in the first place?

As for the gun I had one, was disappointed so I picked up one of the first "best of 10" Kimbers. Now that was a tack driver. It would shoot a half degree of nipple if I did my part.

Thanks Overload. This is just a Grade I. The older Belgian Grade Ones all came with the checkered stock. I also have a Japanese Grade I. The wheelsight makes the old 1958 more valuable, but I like the sights that they put on the later Belgians. They are the same as the Japanese sights. I shoot the older Belgian, but I prefer to shoot the Japanese version (If I did ding it by mistake I would not have heart failure). I baby the old Belgian. It was born in 1958, just like me.
