Ticked at Brownell's
« on: June 27, 2009, 01:00:41 AM »
I had a $25 gift certificut from Brownell's so I ordered a mag for my 1911 using USPS.  I received the mag today, but I received an envolope saying I owed them an extra $5.65 because they sent it UPS ground.  I should have held off calling today, but I called and had them put it on my credit card.  Now I recheck the order confermation and I ordered it USPS which I had more than enough to cover the mag and shipping.

I'm going to call Monday, but I'm not happy. >:( >:(

Sounds like one of those "left hand doesn't know what the right hand" kind of situations.

Don't forget to start off "being nice",  ::)

Brownell's shouldn't make $5.65 a hill they want to lose a customer on....

Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."

May have been an issue with the change-over to the new website or something (if that's how you ordered).

Hope it works out for you.

Indeed, but it is a good test as to whether you want to do business with them again. If they knock off a small charge to keep a customer happy, thats a good thing. If they are pricks about that amount of money, imagine what its going to be like if you need to return something expensive.

Quaker, I had a little problem with Brownell's, I spent 45 minutes trying to order somethings on the old website, after 45 minutes of frustration, I used the " contact us " and sent an e mail that just stated, " I spent the last 45 minutes, trying to give your company money for goods I wished to purchase, the website is so hard to use, that I gave up in frustration, you really need to fix this. " I got an email stating they got it, and 2 days later a very nice email stating. " We understand this is a problem and we are trying hard to make the website more user friendly, please accept 15% off your next order. " I ordered $800 worth including 10 Pmags with the window. This was off the gunsmith pricing.

I would Email very nicely. ;D

I ordered 4 mags for my G22 and they sent me only 3. So I called them and they took care of it, they even sent me a free hat for the trouble.

E-mailed them this weekend their response:

Dakotaranger:
We do apologize for the problem you have experienced. The error occurred on download, which I have no reason why the shipping was changed to UPS ground from USPS? I do show the balance due paid by Credit card #for $5.65. as a courtesy we will also give you credit back for the $5.75 difference of UPS ground $10.50 and First Class mail shipping of $4.85.

Glad to hear they have made things good for everyone that posted that they had problems.

I imagine that Brownell's and other gun realted mail order places have been quite busy the last 8 months and have had their hands full.  With the upgrade to their web site I'm not surprised to hear there may be a few gliches.  Sounds like they made it good to ya.

GOTTA LOVE IOWANS!!!  Those people are some of the nicest people in the customer service business. While I have never had a problem they have always been very helpful with anything I have ever had a question about.
