Taurus Judge

I have had the Judge for two months now and six weeks of that was in Miami at their repair facility.

Have any you Judge owners had trouble firing 45LC rounds with your gun? The firing pin does not strike the shell. It shoots the .410 shells every time but the .45 are a literal crap shoot. The folks at Taurus said I should return it to them for repair so I did, upon return of the weapon and subsequent testing at the range it still will not fire with regularity the  .45 rounds. I have used both Remington and Winchester. The Winchester fired more frequently than the Remington, though not even at 90%.

Please share your thoughts, or experiences with me. They ask that I send the gun back to Miami again for repairs...

For self defense, I guess I will leave the Glock in the nightstand and shoot birds with the Judge.

Take that Judge, put it on Gunbroker and hope for sucker. I'm sorry, I don't usually slam products, and Taurus makes some fine pistols. The Judge isn't one of them. Its ugly (very subjective), its too big for ccw. the chambers are too long to get the .45 colt to the barrel, and .410 BIRDSHOT, OR EVEN BUCKSHOT, IS NOT AN ADEQUATE DEFENSIVE ROUND, when fired out of a 3" long barrel. Buy a Glock, buy a rust bucket, buy a Sig, buy a Smith, hell, buy a Kel-tec, just buy something that will do the damn job, unless you just want (an admitatley fun) range toy, and be done with it. Rant over.

Have a Judge, 2 1/2 chambers 45LC Winchester silver tips, @ 100 rds no problem, S&B 410's @ 100 rds no problem, winchester 2 1/2 000 @ 200 rds no problem.

bought it for my wife as a bedside max range in house 40'

she loves it and so does everyone who has tried shooting it. It is NOT a CC gun your right too bulky but for what it is designed for it works fine. Hope you get yours working right.

I bought a Taurus Raging Bull, took it home to thuroughly clean and found problems with it.  They wouldnt let me return it (it was still unfired!).  So sent it into Taurus for service all the same day I had bought it.  6 weeks later I got it back untouched except for a scratch on the barrel, and a "Service completed" tag on it.  Sent it back again, and four days later it was back with a new barrel, and fit together tighter and nicer than any Raging Bull I've seen since!  I found out from the dealer that the first time it went back it went to their Brazil assembly plant.  The second time it went to their Florida Service Center.  I've had it for years now and love it!  But I dont plan on buying another Taurus because what I've seen...

Well, after they forget to schedule the FedEx p/u for the weapon I dropped it of at the local Kinkos for the FedEx pick up to happen. I did note that the original repair was done in Brazil. I suspect they may give it go now in the repair facility in Miami...who knows. I do think if they shim the cylinder a little closer to the firing pin it might do the trick...We shall see...I do really want it to function.

I will post an update when I get it back...

I'm still waiting on my S&W PPK/S but keep posting and praying. ddubr, welcome. Don't give up on the Judge yet.

It is what it is, and should work as advertised. If it doesn't, keep raising hell with them until its right, replaced, or refunded.

GREAT NEWS... GOT THE JUDGE THIS AFTERNOON FROM REPAIR AND WENT TO THE RANGE. SHE WORKS NOW...USED MAGTECH COWBOY LOADS, MAYBE BECAUSE THEY TOO WERE MADE IN BRASIL. NOW I CAN HOLSTER IT IN THE HANDMADE RIG THAT LYNN THOMPKINS FROM FRONTIER LEATHER WORKS CRAFTED FOR ME...

HAD LUNCH WITH A CO-WORKER, HE SAID HE HAD TWO TAURUS HANDGUNS, .357 REVOLVER AND A 9MM. NEVER HAD A PROBLEM. GUESS ALL I HAD WAS BAD LUCK. ALL GOOD FOR ME SO FAR FOR NOW.

ANY THOUGHTS ON THE RUGER LCR???

Congrats on getting the Judge the way it is advertised. It is a formidable pistol, and it's good Taurus made it right.

Don't know personally about the LCR, except it gets rave reviews, but IMHO it's "ugly"... ;)

Magtech Cowboy loads work great in my Uberti .45LC, If you get the chance try the Winchester Silvertip JHP for a defensive round.

They also work on werewolves...
