Last Thursday I was going through the local Court news, Five cases, 1 second offense parole violation, 1 felon in possesion of a gun, 5 probation. I sent off a letter to the newspaper about it, but they haven't called back to confirm it so I doubt they will publish it.

makes you wonder  about the "rehabilitation" they are receiving  ::)
Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them. The only thing you can’t do is ignore them

How concerned are you that people are standing at their doorways with guns right by the side?”

I have news for you, Diane, you sanctimonious twit.......there have been no reports of serial killers in my neighborhood in recent years, but like that guy from the SC jewelry store I have a gun "on me right now", and it's not some wimpy .25!!   ;D

I was waiting for someone to bring that up. We all know that something is better than nothing, but if you own a jewelry store, c'mon man.

As soon as the pieces got put together and they realized they were dealing with a serial killer, the local Sheriff did a press conference. He made a special point to remind people in the community that "they have a right to protect themselves". It was all he could do not to actually wink and nod and say "hint, hint"......  but he made it perfectly clear what he was getting at.

I commend him for being straight forward and real about the danger. Most public officials now days would steer clear of such a statement, but it was an important reminder that the danger was very real and that people needed to make sure they were prepared if that lunatic decided to come after them.

It just goes to show you the differences in mindsets. Even in the situation where an actual serial killer is on the loose in the community, Sawyer does not think it is necessary to allow the sheep a means to protect themselves..... meanwhile in Small Town USA, real Americans are recognizing that the threat level has elevated and are making sure that they have at the ready a tool that will level the odds if evil decides to come after them or their family.
Everything I needed to learn in life I learned from Country Music.
