California: Bill to Restrict Ammunition Sales Rescheduled for Next Week

Tuesday, June 30, 2009

Please Continue Contacting the Senate Public Safety Committee!

As we reported last week, Assembly Bill 962 was scheduled to be considered today by the Senate Public Safety Committee.  The bill has been rescheduled and will be considered on Tuesday, July 7.

Sponsored by Assembly Member Kevin De Leon (D-45), AB962 would make it a crime to privately transfer more than 50 rounds of ammunition per month, even between family and friends, unless you are registered as a “handgun ammunition vendor” in the Department of Justice’s database.  Ammunition retailers would have to be licensed and store ammunition in such a manner that it would be inaccessible to purchasers.  The bill would also require purchasers submit to fingerprinting, which would be kept in dealers' records and subject to inspection by the Department of Justice.  Lastly, mail order ammunition sales would be prohibited.

Please continue to contact the members of the Senate Public Safety Committee and respectfully urge them to oppose AB962.  Contact information can be found below.

The state's name is misspelled. It starts with a K.
The more I read about this state the more I think it needs to go ahead and fall off into the ocean as predicted by geologists.

As far as I can tell...We're fucked. Each committee that have anti gun bills in them was first chaired by the author of the bill, and is now chaired by the author of the other bill...and the democrats have the republicans outnumbered at least 3-1 on each committee.
They have it set up that only district constituents can email the committee members. I've called and emailed my so called representives and senators, both local and federal, and I either don't get a response, get the "oh, it's one of you" response, or get the "common sense gun control" response.
I am already trying to talk my wife into returning to Arizona with me...or any other state that isn't as fucked up as this one. Other than that, I'll be running up the credit card balance on .38 and .357 ammo so I can stay ahead of the 50 round per month limit. And I'm always in the market for inexpensive bricks of .22.

it won't pass... infact I'd bet they won't even heard/voted one  as we are still working on a "budget".

heaven forbid the sign one on time for a change.

Senator Leno's gun show bill is out of the Senate and on it's way to Assembly for hearing in the appropriations committee...headed up by DeLeon. Assemblyman DeLeon's ammunition bill is out of the Assembly and headed for Leno's Senate Public Safety Committee. I think the fix is in for both of these to go for a vote. It's my feeling that these will pass votes unless the Senators and Assembly members from the districts not around LA, San Diego, San Francisco, Marin and Sonoma Counties stand up and vote no. Hopefully Arnie will throw the BS card on these bills if they make it to him. As if we don't have much more important things to worry about like the non-existant budget. BTW...when they didn't reach a deal last week on the budget...it cost us 3 billion more dollars to the bottom line of the state deficet.

Fight on the basis of the cost of enforcement. Play up the angle that a broke state can not afford more agents to enforce new laws.
That will even bring support from the commie areas.

Well, it passed the Senate Public Safety committee. And now it's on to the Senate Appropriations Commiittee. 13 members, 5 Republicans, and the chairman of the Public Safety committee, that just passed it, is on the Appropriations committee as well. Like I said earlier...We are fucked. They aren't listening to us. They are just going to do it anyway.
