Who else is on Strike?
« on: July 05, 2009, 08:37:33 PM »
Went to Wally World today.  0 hangun ammo.  Clerk says they get a few boxes now and then but no real quanitity.  I've reached the point where I'm not shooting until I can buy more ammo.  I'm on strike!
Anybody else out there reached this point?

Go to specialty shops, Gun stores, and places that specialize in Sporting goods seem to be pretty well stocked except for .380 and Primers.
The thing limiting ME is that I'm on unemployment, but supply seems to be coming back.

None of those choices really describe me.

I find good prices for my handgun ammo by surfing the net. If I find what I can shoot, I'll buy it and shoot. I'm still shooting quite a bit. I'm finding and shooting inexpensive .22. For my hunting rifles I have lots of rounds bought some time ago. I only shoot those to make sure I'm still sighted in on the scopes.
No real strategic supply here. Nothing to see. Move along...

Both my wife and myself had slowed down a little bit for a while. My wife's carry choice is a Bersa Thunder CC stainless in .380 .acp. Her glovebox gun is a Bersa FireStorm also in .380.

We have a very good supply of defensive ammo and a decent supply of range ammo in all calibers but .380. We do have a very good supply of .380 defensive ammo.

My wife has been shooting our Glock 17 at the range lately. I'm still shooting 9mm, S&W .40, .45 .acp., .357 magnum and .44 magnum. I have a decent supply of all of these calibers in range ammo and Wally World has been consistently getting range ammo in for the last few weeks. We are stocking back up on everything but .380.......still looking.

I'm there. I still practice twice monthly (or more) with my carry gun. My range (which is house only), has, to its great credit, not raised its prices much.Still $13 per 50 with 9mm hardball. Not a bargain, but not absurd with a captive audience. However at seventy cents a round for 5.56 and almost $1.50 for .270, I think I'll work out the RWS pellet gun and the 10/22 for a while.
FQ13 wo never thought (short of buying a Barret) that the question would not be, can I afford the gun, but can I afford the ammo?

Last trip to the store there was a lot of ammo.  The problem was selection of what I wanted was poor, and the prices were high (even by today's standards).  All .40 S&W was WinClean  :P  There was only one box of yellow box UMC, quite a bit of Ultra Max, and very limited American Eagle.  Hunting ammo supplies seem to be building up, and they should be no problem by fall.

I'll keep buying what I can, and my shooting will be limited by what I can find ... and afford  :'(

Almost there. Trying to stock up for later needs.

The local "big blue money funnel also known as wal-mart" had nothing but one box of WWB .44 Mag for $33, one box of 9mm Federal for $13.47, and a bunch of .40 S&W Blazer Brass for $12.47 each.
Bought 5 boxes of .40..... it seems to be the only thing they get regularly.

The range near my job:  $23/box of 50 9mm.   That's absurd.   They have a rule:  No outside ammo due to insurance regulations.  With one caveat:  If they don't have your caliber, you can shoot your own.  So much for insurance regulations :)
BTW,  I don't shoot there.
But there's some good news.  I found some .22lr and 9mm ball on the web.  Vvverrry NNiice ! ( you know, like Borat )
