Because you can buy 10 for the price of a Springfield. Otherwise I'd agree, particulary as 30-06 is such a ubiquitous cartridge.

1) Best hunting rifle - Mauser
2) Best Target rifle - 03 Springfield
3) Best Battle rifle - Lee Enfield
Mosin Nagant, Ross, Carcano, and the P-17 did not make the list.
