I saw a youtube video of airsofters (yes, airsofters,  ::) ) in the Phillipines.  They all had those skull masks on.  Did it start out as some sort of Navy SEAL thing?

No, it tarted out as a Call of Duty thing. IIRC.

Actually I believe it started out as a Biker thing, I got one at Sturgis way back in '80. The new ones have better graphics and materials though.
