Joe Biden: ‘We Have to Go Spend Money to Keep From Going Bankrupt’

(CNSNews.com) – Vice President Joe Biden told people attending an AARP town hall meeting that unless the Democrat-supported health care plan becomes law the nation will go bankrupt and that the only way to avoid that fate is for the government to spend more money.
 
“And folks look, AARP knows and the people with me here today know, the president knows, and I know, that the status quo is simply not acceptable,” Biden said at the event on Thursday in Alexandria, Va. “It’s totally unacceptable. And it’s completely unsustainable. Even if we wanted to keep it the way we have it now. It can’t do it financially.”
 
“We’re going to go bankrupt as a nation,” Biden said.
 
“Now, people when I say that look at me and say, ‘What are you talking about, Joe? You’re telling me we have to go spend money to keep from going bankrupt?’” Biden said. “The answer is yes, that's what I’m telling you.” (Listen to Audio)
 
The event, sponsored by the AARP – which supports the Obama administration’s plan – was attended by mostly AARP members who were bussed in for the meeting.

Biden told the group that the Obama health plan will not eliminate people’s ability to choose their health care insurance and that people who cannot afford insurance will be covered by the plan.
 
“They’ll be a deal in there so there’s competition, so what you’ll have in there is you’ll have the ability to go in there and say, ‘Now look, this is the policy I want. This is the one,” Biden said.
 
“And those people who can’t afford to get in there, up to a certain income, we’re going to subsidize them, you get in there and we’ll help you pay for it,” Biden said.
 
After opening remarks by Biden and AARP CEO A. Barry Rand, the audience asked questions, which were fielded by Biden, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and Nancy Ann DeParle, director of the White House Office of Health Reform.

Invesstors Busines Daily has now proven that Biden and Obama are lying when they say that, "the Obama health plan will not eliminate people’s ability to choose their health care insurance..."

Invester Business Daily has found on page 16 of the 1,018-page bill that they will, in effect kill private health insurance:

"Protecting The Choice To Keep Current Coverage," the "Limitation On New Enrollment" section of the bill clearly states:

Quoting from IBD:
"Except as provided in this paragraph, the individual health insurance issuer offering such coverage does not enroll any individual in such coverage if the first effective date of coverage is on or after the first day" of the year the legislation becomes law.

So we can all keep our coverage, just as promised — with, of course, exceptions: Those who currently have private individual coverage won't be able to change it. Nor will those who leave a company to work for themselves be free to buy individual plans from private carriers.

It took just 16 pages of reading to find this naked attempt by the political powers to increase their reach. It's scary to think how many more breaches of liberty we'll come across in the final 1,002.

So if a current health plan can't sell new policies how long can they stay in business?

Aparently if you drink the Kool Aid in long deep gulps, you'll believe anything. It's the only explanation that I have for how people can actually buy this stuff.

Come on Tom, it's the American way! Mortgaged to the hilt, with 8 credit cards all maxed out, and 2 payments on brand new cars. Somewhere along the line we as a country quit living within our means and now it's coming around to bite us in the ass.

I know that you guys know this: The U.S. IS bankrupt, and has been for a while now. I think the reason that you don't see many of the voices that HAVE woken up is because they are now scrambling. The see the collapse coming, and they are now engaged in a rat race to prepare so they can survive it.

I figure the only way that you can even hope to survive what is coming is to be as self sufficient as possible. Gotta learn to do things old school, and WORK FOR A LIVING. And I mean this literally. You must be prepared to fend for yourself. No grocery store, no fast food, no pizza delivery. If you wanna eat, you better be prepared to find it, kill it, and cook it. You want to be warm, you are gonna have to chop a lot of firewood.

This is probably the sick twisted reason that I would like to see something like this. Darwinism at work. Having to fend for yourself would eliminate the parasites from the mix. We could start over with the people who make this country great. The ones who aren't afraid of the effort it take to succeed.

The fear is, of course, the power vacuum that it would create. Don't get me wrong, I really hope that we can straighten this out before we get to the point of no return. But watching the drunken orgy confirmation hearings, and the ram and cram legislation being pushed through, and I wonder if we might not already be past.

As always, hope for the best, fight the good fight, but always be prepared for the absolute worst.
