Another Sears story. My stepdad was an attorney who handled a lot of bankruptcy cases. The deal is if you declare chapter 7, you have to put a notice in the paper giving creditors notice of the hearing, so they can show up and make their case to the judge. Visa was never there. Sears, on the other hand, always sent a lawyer, even if it was or a few hundred bucks (less than half of their hourly rate). Common snse didn't seem to factor in to it. Rules is rules, and we follow the rules. Common sense be dammned.

I just put a laminate floor in my house. When I took the dishwasher out of the kitchen to lay the floor, we discovered that the motor had a slow leak in it. My wife informed me that WE would not be puting a leaky dishwasher on her new floor so I had to tap into my firearms fund to get a new dishwasher.

My Dad is semi retired and works at a Sears Hardware part time. He told me that if I bought from Sears, I could use his employee discount for a new appliance. I went ahead and did that because I thought I'd be able to get an upgrade from the dishwasher I was going to get a Loews.

I couldn't really tell a difference in the two models, but my wife knew all about it, so I figured it would be better if I just shut the hell up and do as I was told. It came in about two weeks after I finished the floor, so time wise, everything was working out.

The problems started coming when I noticed that I was going to have to buy extras to install it. The water feed line (I was going to replace it anyway), the drain line, and the electrical connection. I was able to get the feed line and drain hose, no problem, but the sales guy told me I'd have to get an electrician to hardwire the dishwasher in. I told him that the dishwashers plugged in to a switched elec outlet below the sink and I needed the plug kit connection for the dishwasher. An aurgument ensued. He knew more than I did, even though I was in new home construction for 20 years and he was a clerk at Sears. I ended up going to Ace Hardware across the street and getting everything I needed for the install, with no aurguments.

The only reason I went there was for Family, but I won't ever again. I just hope I don't need service for the dishwasher.

Dishwashers never come with a fill hose or power connection, just the drain hose. Some places will give you the connections when you buy from them or if you had the place you bought it from install it for you, they should include them in the install price.

The power hook up situation ticks off a lot of people. Same if you buy an electric dryer, just a place to wire in a cord. With dishwashers though, there is a chance it could be hardwired in, so they don't include anything. Not even wire nuts anymore.

Still HATE Sears though.
