Hate to burst y'alls bubble but there have been foriegn troops operating in the US for excersises like this and smaller/larger for a LONG time.  Spent part of the summer last year with the Brits, Aussies, Canadians, and Kiwis in California.  Headed back out for the same this year.  I've done more than one RIMPAC cruise where the above Navies plus the Japanese, South Koreans, and Chilean Navies all "invaded" (had a port call all at once) Hawaii.  We routinely train the armies of South and Central American countries.  The JFK Special Warfare Center in Ft Bragg has British and Allied instructors.  Just because it's a FEMA/DHS excersise with other countries involved doesn't make it the end of the world.  Now if they were actaully given arrest powers or any authority over US combatants, then we might be screwed

Those were in Training areas though, it does not sound like this will be confined that way.

I understand the training of or with foreign troops, but have you ever been aware of them training for a role of assisting us in the event of international terrorism? If we need our borders protected, I'd feel better with our troops.

The article states that the training will focus "exclusively on terrorism prevention and protection." The article went on to say: The scenario "will begin in the aftermath of a national terrorist event outside of the United States, and exercise play will center on preventing subsequent efforts by the terrorists to enter the United States and carry out additional attacks." The countries involved are; Australia, Canada, the U.K. and Mexico. This would certainly seem to imply that at least the Mexican troops and the Canidian troops are "training" to assist with the protection of our borders. As Canada and Australia are both part of the U.K. it is concievable that all 3 of those countries are training to protect our massive Northern border. This sounds like training for an active role, as opposed to training for training purposes. Even training for joint exercises does not include training foreign troops for mission specific roles on U.S. soil. Jnevis you are professionally versed in such matters. I am a humble civilian that would appreciate your additional thoughts.

The fact that it is a FEMA exercise certainly makes it SOUND like the stuff Black helicopter conspiracies are made of, Socialist politicians , blue helmets and everything crappy.
