I did not notice that Gordon Ramsey was in Aerosmith!!!! No wonder I never liked them. LOL  ;D

AC/DC rocks compared to the dark side of Slayer. I think I still have "Back in Black" on 8 track along with vinyl. Along with the Alice Cooper Show, The Who "Tommy", and REO Speedwagon "You can tuna piano but you can't tuna fish" and the first piece of music I ever bought, Kiss Alive 2 on 8 track. I was 12 years old when I bought it. I still have my Kiss belt buckle that my dad bought me that I wore in the 5th and 6th grade that he picked up at the show in Huntington, West Virginia. My Dad rocks and taught me too also.
Your post reminded me of my first concert and my cousin Joe. He taught me to rock.

We were living in Dublin, Ireland but in the States to visit during the summer of 1968. My folks were American and always took us to the States during the summer and at Christmas. I was 10. My 16 y/o cousin was stuck with me and took me to see The Doors in Dallas. Now being an Irish lad, I had no idea who The Doors were or what a concert was all about. I was with Joe though and I idolized my older "American" cousin. Joe does not tell my Unlce Gene or my folks. Of course this was no place for a 10 y/o kid. Joe was smoking strange gigarettes (being an Irish kid he was smoking "funny fags"). I was sworn to secrecy but I was excited after the concert (and likely had a contact high) and I spilled the beans. I don't really remember my slip up but I really remember the consequences. Joe did too....for a very long time.

I thought that he was the best cousin in the world. When we moved back to the States the next year, we laughed about the experience. It was a running joke for a few years. It was a very memorable concert. The same year that Jim Morrison died, Joe jumped on a friend's new bike (motorcycle) for a ride around the block. They said that the kick stand came down (I never bought that one, even at 13). Joe was thrown from the bike and smashed his head on the pavement. He didn't have a helmet and ended up with the mentality of a 5 y/o. Uncle Gene had moved the family to Macon, Georgia and I didn't get to see Joe very much. He passed away a few years later. I'll always remember my first concert, Jim Morrison and Joe. It took me quite a few years to go to another concert, not until I was in college. Rock on Joe!!!

We'll be fighting in the streets
With our children at our feet
And the morals that they worship will be gone
And the men who spurred us on
Sit in judgment of all wrong
They decide and the shotgun sings the song

I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around me
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
And I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
Don't get fooled again

The Who

Weird.  And on the topic of Slayer, the only thing that keeps me from listening to them more often is their vehement anit-Christianity.  I don't mind the Angel of Death stuff, but the constant Satan stuff is a bit to much.  I get my thrash from Metallica.  Kid you got to get some Metallica, all the thrash, but with out the crazy:

+1 Runstowin!  That's what I was lookin' for, the post wasn't really about Slayer, it's just how I opened up.  But feel free to talk amongst yourselves about them & other bands.

8-tracks...ha, I remember those!

Kid, Sorry about your cousin. But I have to tell you the kick stand thing is probably true, Either a weak spring let it fall or he forgot to put it up in the first place. I had that happen to me, when I went to turn it caught the pavement and kicked the rear end over about a foot at LOW speed .

..............
I HATED "Tommy",  I would put it on for background noise when I was doing other stuff and when it got to the end it goes Tommy,   Tommy,  Etc I always thought some one was calling me.  And I HATE being called Tommy, the only one who still does it is my Mother.  ;D

I can't believe you posted this.  What were you thinking?

A man after my own heart.  Being a guitar player, I am bound by the laws of teh guitar Gods to knwo every metallica song by heart.  But also being a guitar player, I tend to like songs that didnt get major play time.  Shortest Straw and Leper Messiah are two of the best guitar solos of all time..

I cant wait to see these guys in Nashville in September.

Kerry King, the guitarist of Slayer, is opposed to all religion. Tom Araya, the base player/singer, is a practicing Catholic. The only real "satanists" in metal are usually the sort of people who are in the Norwegian Black Metal bands; now those people are absolutely crazy, even the "for show" ones. They make Manson's Anti-Christ Superstar look like gospel music.

Back on Slayer, I like the old music like Reign in Blood or Seasons of the Abyss but the new stuff isn't very good at all. Every time King gets an anti-religious thought he writes a damn song about it and its gotten annoying and repetitive, even hardcore Slayer fans are finally starting to give it up.
