dish washer safe
« on: October 18, 2007, 11:13:31 PM »
I read the quick data on the new Ruger.

Michael said he was not sure if the gun was dishwasher safe.

Just curious but has anyone put their gun in a dishwasher to clean it? I can understand not putting the small parts in there, but my dumb butt is actually considering this.

Michael - where you serious or were you just trying to see if anyone was reading?

Sincerely
"just dumb enough to try"

I put a Glock through a dishwasher once, back when they first came out. Cleaned up real nice. The story became so well known that at a SHOT SHow a few years later, Herr Glock asked me as a favor to stop referring to his guns as "dishwasher safe." I told him it was only because I liked the fresh lemony smell...

Personally, I prefer my pistols to smell like a good porterhouse, but if Ruger is unwilling to come out with collored grips I doubt they would make them 'scratch and sniff'

OMG! Dude, That's hilarious! It's so funny it can ONLY BE TRUE! ;D I've heard of guys washing their steel traps in the dishwasher before.

I know a guy that takes his AC registers in his house and runs them thru the dishwasher to clean them. He has to do this when his wife is gone for the day however.  ;D

Well, I ran all my .45 magazines through the dish washer once, after an IPSC shoot in an old river bottom with lots of real fine, silty sand.  Did a good job on them.  But I wouldn't say a 1911A1 would be "dishwasher safe", unless you could lube on the final rinse cycle.

Should have listed "Stop or my mom will shoot" to "My favorite gun movies," but maybe you should ask them if they would rather have you run the gun through the dishwasher or have Estelle Getty take a Brillo pad to it?
