I e-mailed my Senator (Shaheen Dem ) to support the CCW bill, this is the e-mail I got back trying to excuse her NO vote :

Dear Thomast,

Thank you for contacting me with your thoughts on protecting our Second Amendment rights.  I appreciate hearing from you about this important issue.

I am a strong supporter of the Second Amendment.  In New Hampshire we have a proud tradition of individual liberty and a culture of hunting and sportsmanship.  I have supported that tradition throughout my career and I will continue to advocate for the responsible use of firearms as an important part of our state's heritage.

Most gun owners agree that Second Amendment rights can be reasonably balanced with the safety needs of their communities.  Since these needs vary between urban and rural communities, I believe that many decisions on regulation should be left to state and local governments and law enforcement agencies.  Our tradition of gun ownership can be respected while also ensuring that our cities and towns, schools and public buildings remain safe and secure.  As your Senator, I will carefully review all legislation that comes before the Senate to make sure that our individual liberties, traditions and safety are protected.

Thank you again for sharing your thoughts with me and please do not hesitate to contact my office with any future concerns.

Sincerely,

Jeanne Shaheen
United States Senator

Below is my reply to her.

The Second Amendment is the most heavily regulated of Civil rights, being covered by more than 20,000 laws nation wide. Lets compare, How about if Blacks, and women were allowed to vote, with some "reasonable limitations". How about if we had a "free press" as long as every one who bought writing implements was individually approved by the FBI. Of course some of your fellow Senators would want to ban "scary looking pens, because they serve no purpose but slander, while others would demand a waiting period on writing supply sales so that law abiding, FBI approved Citizens [Your Bosses, who pay your wages] did not write something in "the heat of the moment".
Is there something about the term "Shall not be infringed" that you do not under stand ? I will be happy to send you the dictionary definition if this is the case.
You should do some historical research on this matter. When the "Founding Father's" you claim to revere, where writing the Constitution You swore an oath to uphold and defend, They did not include the Second Amendment to protect "hunting" or "sporting purposes".
They specifically stated in writings such as the Federalist Papers and their personal correspondence, that the purpose of the Second Amendment was so the Citizens could keep the legislature ( people like you ) in line. It is intended to be the ultimate "check" in our system of checks and balances. You should think about that and start fulfilling your oath to defend the Constitution, and doing what we who pay your wages demand instead of the things your party bosses want.
I have been following the Superior court news for Belknap county and the one outstanding thing I notice is that no on goes to jail. Everyone, including a "felon in possession of a fire arm" (second offense ) get probation, if you and you fellow Senators were sincere in your concerns about violent crime you would be looking at violent offenders and the Judges who send them home. The fact that none of ever mention that option speaks volumes.

Nice reply, Tom. I'm sure she has alerted her girlfriend, Janet Napolitano, about you already too.....  ;)

Wasn't she also the governor of NH too?

Nice direct reply to her wishy washy answer to you.

I expect to get something similar from klochuchar and some slap in the face from Franken.  I have stated much of what you say in comparison to other Rights, and would like your permission to borrow from you when the time comes.

Good job!

P.S.

I heard an attorney on the radio this afternoon and am going to find him on the internet to listen again.  I will be posting more on his views, but even though he has a little twisted (popular modern view) of the Second today vs. when it was written, he believes this issue will continue to rise and eventually pass.  He even went on to say that if this had been attached to something else that required fewer votes it would have gone through based on polling numbers he uses.

Tom, you may also want to ask her to cite her sources when she says something inane like "Most gun owners agree that Second Amendment rights can be reasonably balanced with the safety needs of their communities."

Then call BS on her.

Say hi to Naploitano for me when you get brought before her for interrogations questioning your friendly conversation.

You are so on the watch list....

Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."

I'm sorry I can't reply to this thread but between the helicopters hovering over my Apt. and all the Govt electronics pointed my way I am having trouble with my internet connection

;D

Yes, she was Gov. back in the late 90's    ::) When she got in office I got out of the guard.
