22 Eargesplitten Loudenboomer

heard about this one yesterday



It was invented in the 1960s by P.O. Ackley to set a world record for firing bullets at over 5000 fps (1524 m/s). It is based on the .378 Weatherby Magnum cartridge case, necked down to .224 calibre.




that had got me looking for some strange wild cats 


the the .17 BMF
Left is a .30-06 Springfield for comparison.
Center is the .17 BMF and right is it's parent cartridge the .50 BMG.     :rofl: :rofl: :rofl:   always wondered if someone got a .50BMG and necked it down 

well here we are

People with waaaaaay too much free time on their hands.

A .50 BMG necked down to a .17? Wonder what the muzzle fps was?

I'd guess you'd have to have a LOOOOOONNNNG, thick barrel, and some SLOOOOOOOOWWWW burning powder.  Or BOOOOMMMMM!  Pipe bomb!

Taking the above into account, I wonder how fast it WOULD go. Point of aim at 1000 yards ?  ;D
