Glock & Roll Range Report with the G21

Late start, but squeaked out to a range closer to my house than the one I usually go to.

Using Winchester White Box 230gr Target/Range ammo. 100rds.
Federal HST 230gr JHP's.

Started at 10yds. and just got a feel for it. Recoil is no problemo. POA is POI. at that range, if I go at a steady firing speed, and remember to breathe.

Trigger is just fine for me, maybe sometime later if I can try one first I'll see about the "Glock Trigger job". Opinions from Glock owners who have had trigger jobs are always welcome.


With WWB ammo 10 yds. They were all pretty much a big ragged hole.

Many groups at 10yds seemed like I was cheating, so I ran it out to 25 yds.

Federal HST at 25 yds. and no prescription glasses, range was a little dark, (alright enough excuses :-X, more practice at that distance....)  ;)

Seems my eyes are suffering the ravages of time, as I may have to start wearing my prescription glasses at the range. :-\

Overall impression?

Freakin sweet. Really liked it. Trigger right now for me is fine. Not as crisp as my 1911, but just fine. May swap sites out, I'll take suggestions if you got em'.

No issues of any kind.

That looks great! Do you have a 21 SF or the regular 21? At 25 yards did you have to aim a bit higher on the target? I've been thinking about a 21 to shoot in IDPA, but I think I have too many guns right now......  ;)

Regular Block 21. At 25 yds. I was aiming 12:00 high on the bulls eye as an aiming point, the ventilation system kinda "swayed" the target slightly... Probably why the 25 yd string was high. I didn't stay too long as momma likes her Sunday dinners early. ::)

I think aiming 6:00 on bullseye would have netted the same result. I need to practice at distances over 15 yds, and try my damn spectacles. Near-sighted with astigmatism is killing me, especially when its rifle day... :'(

As far as a SIG,.....those guns in the safe have a habit of spontaneously reproducing..... 8) Birthday is in 3 1/2 months...

I've shot a Glock with the lighter trigger and did not like it at all..... so try before you buy...... It might be nice for competition, but I felt it was just too light for a personal protection gun..... To me, the factory Glock trigger is just long enough and heavy enough that I feel very comfortable that it wont go bang unless I want it to.

That is a big +1. Right now,for me, why change a good thing. If I shot competition, I would have a race version, as an SD pistol, they got the stock trigger good enough for me. My S&W 1911 that I spent waaaayyyy to much tweaking up, is the Luke Skywalker race gun for now,...

On a parts question,..

Who knows about the "slide stop release" that is slightly bigger than factory??? Being a lefty, I can get it fine with my left index finger, but I heard there is a slightly prominent version, that might be easier to put a finger on??

Thanks for the info and tips...Even the Homey Sights... If and when I get a used Model19 to just get and not have to worry about, maybe than... ;)

For an FYI

New Glocks at the range were $600 and up, M+P's $578 and up,  ??? ???

This store/range is known to be high, but only within $25-$50 of the other dealers in town.... :-\

When will prices correct themselves, I paid $479.00 for my M+P .40 NIB Spring 08, $459.00 for my FN9 NIB Fall 08, all S&W 1911's were right about a $1000, Revolvers  :o :o :o Holy smokes $500 and up, except for Taurus which was close...

i was looking into getting a sig a while back and test fired one down at the range... and well.... on DA the bulk of the grip and the angle of the trigger was just right so that i couldnt actualy get the gun to fire without substantialy altering my grip... however with this new grip i was about as accurate as a drunken gangster with both eyes cut out
