Blackwolfe and I discovered that we lived near each other and met at the range today. Here's photo-documented proof that forum members do more than just buy guns, talk about guns, take pictures of guns, take guns out of the safe and fondle them and post pictures on the internet. Occasionally we actually shoot them.
Here's blackwolfe shooting his Tactical Solutions upper on a Rock River lower. That was a nice little set up...it ran flawlessly as long as we didn't rest the magazine on the bench when shooting it. I also brought my DPMS AR with a Ceiner kit in it so I could sight in my EoTech with that set up...my Black Dog Machine magazines fit and fuctioned with the TacSol set up perfectly...good note to myself for the future.

Blackwolfe wanted to shoot my M1A...here's a pic. This is a Springfield Armory M1A Loaded...it has been absolutely flawless and can shoot sub-MOA with 168 gr match ammo. I've run it through and Appleseed course and it made me look good. Unfortunately, something was going on in the gas system today where it wouldn't cycle with any ammo...147 gr ball from Portugal or Serbia and my match loads.
I fretted about this endlessly and had horible visions of a frozen, corroded gas system from bad corrosive surplus ammo. As soon as I got home I tore the gas system open and nothing looked amiss...the piston freely moved and other than a little carbon, the system looked good. Then I looked through the disassembly manual
http://www.surplusrifle.com/m14m1a/rifledisassembly/index.asp and lo and behold...the gas spindle was turned to GRENADE setting...oops. Oh, well...at least he looks good shooting it, even if it was a bolt action rifle.

Next up were my FALs...the DSA StG58A and the DSA SA58 Para. The Prvi Partisan ammo didn't eject very vigorously (a couple of feet) but the Portuguese threw the brass a good 25-30 feet. May need to turn down the gas a bit on that stuff.

Finally my new MSAR StG556-E4. Here's blackwolfe and I shooting. I now have 100 rounds through the rifle...it feeds and ejects perfectly but doesn't lock back on any magazine...either the factory ones or stock AR mags. I turned the gas to the high setting this time to see if that would help...no joy. Looks like I need to give MSAR a call.

All in all, a good day...then again, any day at the range is better than almost any alternative. Sadly, records of the targets we shot we lost in a bizarre gardening accident so we'll never see how we shot...
Also, I was wondering why my fat butt looks pointy...apparently my CCW prints when I shoot rifles...note to self.
