I just sent him an email and told him what I think (As politely as I could):

Quote
Senator-

I am writing you today in response to your vote of confirmation of Judge Sotomayor.

Clearly Sotomayor is an activist judge, and your vote to confirm her and give her a lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court greatly undermines our representative democracy. What you did was a cop-out and a disgrace.

Your vote has once again shown the people of South Carolina that you do not represent our ideas and values nor our beliefs about where we should be going as a nation. You have violated your oath to uphold the constitution, and you should be ashamed.

Hows this one.....

Quote
Senator,

Although your vote matters very little, you've shamed yourself for not dissenting in the nomination of Judge Sotomayor.

Her actions scream activism and prejudice and an alternative choice was warranted in this case.  You should have stood by the moral and ethical standards that your party stands for and made a better choice.

It appears that your just a talking head these days, saying whatever is necessary to get your face in front of a camera.  Though I'm not one of your constituents, I ONCE had some respect for your position in the Senate.

No more!

Thats a great point.... He really gave her a tough cross examination and called her out for the crap fest that she is (all to score political points) and then went against everything he said and voted for her anyway.

He's already replied saying that "due to the overwhelming e-mails to his office he's unable to reply to anyone other than his own constituents!"  etc.... etc....blah, blah, blah....

That's actually more than I've gotten from Kerry or Kennedy  lately... >:(

I know what you mean, I still have not gotten even a form letter, "thank you for you letter" from MY Senator for the E bomb I sent her about her no vote on the Thune / Vitter CCW bill.

The more I read his reply, the more it upsets me!

If I'm not mistaken, he's a US Senator from the State of SC.

This was a vote for the US Supreme Court, not the appealate court, the district court or the court in his home town.  How dare he ignore me!

I have to say that I am both dissapointed and surprised by this. Graham is one of the few social conservatives that I both respected and admired. He always had a well thought out reason for his position, didn't use bumper sticker slogans, but displayed intellect and some moral courage. He's not some one I would vote for, but I'd I'd shake his hand after the fight and invite him for a beer and mean it. He's also someone from the religious right I listen to. Yet Sotomajor hasn't shown me that she is anything more than an AA candidate. Too bad.

              didn't use bumper sticker slogans,

You need to remember that the average voter can not remember any thing that does not fit on a bumper sticker, in large print.

Its an automated response

It is what always goes out when ever you email him.... on the email that I link to there is the option of asking him to respond in writing to your correspondence...... he will mail you an actual letter addressing the specifics of your contact if you make the request..... although, he stopped mailing me the requested response when I truly told him off a while back and said that I was never going to vote for him again and that I was going to convince all my friends and family to also not vote for him.

He used to be a true conservative..... Until he hitched his wagon to McCain and is now a poster child RINO. I had a hunch he (and McCain) would vote for her and then get up and make the "elections have consequences" speech and talk about how its the president's right to appoint anyone he wants.

As far as him being from the "religious right".... he has been in line with religiously sensitive issues like abortion, but it has been long rumored that he himself is gay.
