Actually, legally he does. Morally I would 200% agree with you.
But this is a time that when we live by law as we should we get the bad end of the deal.

Also remember that the supreme court has ruled recently (again) that the police do not have to protect you or provide services in a timely fashion. I will be looking for that url as I remember it within the last week or so.

The SCOTUS made that ruling in a 70's gang rape case where DC police merely drove by a couple times during the womens (3 of them ) 16 + hour ordeal.

Officer Doughboy is a disgrace to his oversize uniform.
""It may be laid down as a primary position, and the basis of our system, that every Citizen who enjoys the protection of a free Government, owes not only a proportion of his property, but even his personal services to the defence of it, and consequently that the Citizens of America (with a few legal and official exceptions) from 18 to 50 Years of Age should be borne on the Militia Rolls, provided with uniform Arms, and so far accustomed to the use of them, that the Total strength of the Country might be called forth at a Short Notice on any very interesting Emergency." - George Washington. Sad all of the way around. While he is back on the force, I hope that he can be confined to desk duty. There should be physical requirements in place before an officer can hit the streets.

As long the union maintains that: "there is no physical requirement for existing officers", it would appear that the Departments hands are tied.

I find it disturbing that a police union would take such a stance. The union should support physical requirements for the safety of its members.........................not to mention the safety of the public.

I did not hear at anytime, his intentions of losing weight and getting more fit. Although sympathetic, he should not be on the street, IMHO, his comments about the the situation not being over, I can believe, he has not changed, and the job has not changed, he is not able for the street job. Fire fighters have a serious physical test, not many of us could pass, and I am glad, if you got a fire fighter at your door, he can carry you up or down a flight of stairs, give you cpr etc... not to dis a cop ever, but that is a serious job requirement, at least here in Dallas county, it is status quo, I would like to see the man lose some weight, get serious about his job, and what it takes to do it. If not there is always barber college.
