Here is a really nice read on Speer Gold Dot ammo:

Included are some expansion and penetration charts as well as velocity comparisons. Most impressive is a pic of Gold Dot ammo after impacting a steel plate:

Ive been researching these rounds for a while.  Brinks armored car service swears by this round, but I have been carrying Cor-Bon for a while.  I think I might make the swtch...if not to Gold Dot at least to a bonded round.

Test fire all brands, in your particular firearm for reliability. GS ammo has a "large HP" larger in diameter than other brands.

I have them, trust them, and shoot them, in .380 and .40, but gave them a hard test drive before carrying in SD.

Just my .02 cents for any round or brand.

Know how it works in your firearm before you trust it.

The GS ammo, is a great ammo especially in .380.

Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."

Been carrying their .38 & .357 magnum "Short Barrel" loads for a couple of years.  Good stuff with a solid LE reputation.

I carry GD 147g 9mm at work and GD .45 ACP short barrel in my CC G30.  Just about all the LE organizations around here use GD.

Carry the .40 S&W 180 Grain for duty; and short barrel 180 grain .40 S&W in off duty P239.
