A $16,000 whisky!

When the stock market has you flummoxed, there's always whisky. No, not to drown your sorrows. How about whisky as an investment?

The maker of Glenfiddich has unveiled a 50-year aged whisky that will sell for $16,000, Bloomberg reports. It will be the second-most expensive in the world.

Who's going to be drinking Glenfiddich 50 Year Old? Not many, apparently. These offerings, in 500 hand-blown and numbered bottles, are meant to be an investment.

"I'd expect interest from Asia to North America for a 50-year," said a director at a Scotch whisky trade group, according to Bloomberg.

The value of a 60-year-old Macallan that sold in 1991 has nearly quadrupled since then. "The Glenfiddich 50-Year would be its nearest rival available to buy openly," Bloomberg reports.

Oddly, the best place to find this 50-year bottle is at an airport. The whisky will be released in 50-bottle lots, which will go to airports for two months and then to other stores.

It might as well be, because even if I had 16k to blow, it wouldn't be on a bottle of booze. I do admire the project though. Any one that stupid and that rich needs to seperated from his money as quickly as possible before they hurt themselves. ;D

The 20%+ abv beers released by Sam Adams (e.g. Millennium, Utopia) have all gone up in price.  If I see one, I'd buy it and drink it.
