Excellent Choice!  I have a 6 shot/6inch barreled one that I bought in the early 90's brand new for $360.  Those prices have climbed haven't they? 

After about 1k rounds, I sent it off to Smith&Wesson to have the trigger worked on so now the trigger is smooth as glass in double action and nice, clean and crisp in single action.

Surprisingly, mine shoots better dirty.  After about 50 rounds, the groups tighten up drastically.

Had a trigger Job done and ordered a Weigand scope mount:

Very well made and installed in about 45 seconds so its easy to switch back to irons.  I mounted a Holo sight I had available but will probably track down a Cmore or Doctor sight for steel matches. 



I'm still not as fast with the 617 as I am my buckmark but I'm hoping a couple thousand rounds will change that

I always break all the clay pigeons,  some times its even with lead.
